LeaverBuster a bit too aggressive?

So, I'm playing ARAM of all things and my LoL client crashes. But this time it was a really bad crash and required a reboot of the entire system. I am able to get back in game, work back from the level deficit, and contribute to a team victory.

After the match, I get flagged by LeaverBuster, scolding me for leaving the game and threatening further action if it continues. Considering I'm not a serial leaver, I don't really understand why I got such a harsh message. I can only imagine what happens to players who don't even make it back to the game due to unplanned power failure or their ISP just deciding to maintenance at an inconvenient time.

Its not to say I am against such a system being in place, but it probably could be less Draconian and really target the offenders that it was intended to catch.

but.....you didn't really get LPQ did you? I've full afk more than a few games (not proud of it, but IRL comes first) and have yet to reach 5 minutes LPQ (first tier punishment). I don't see what's so harsh about that message. afk ruins games even if it's beyond your control (like my problems, or ISP issue, or power failures, etc.). It takes a serial leaver to even get punished so if you are not one, I don't get what the complaint is. I got the same message as you did, several times. it's just a warning, not an actual punishment. How should they be "less Draconian" about it?

the leaver buster is a fix for people not being able to surrender. if you could surrender and take the full loss points people could just leave and not get spanked for not having 20 accounts to play on.

It's a stern warning.
