14 Day Suspension for a First Time Offense

As it is winter break for most of us I thought to myself, why not make a new account and have fun exploring the new leveling system before I go off to college again, familiar isn't it? Now, as anyone can see I was toxic indeed. But my question lies in not why I was punished but in the severity of the punishment itself. I did not have any prior chat bans or account restrictions based on past behaviors, so receiving a 14-day out of the blue ban is really surprising to me. Does chat restriction still exist at all? A couple of years back such a case would be punished with x amount of chat restricted games and be done with it. I am really in the dark here. Please, do elaborate. Do you believe my 14-day ban was indeed justified, or would a chat restriction for a given amount of games suffice? How would you react to such a case?

To clarify, I am NOT lying and I have not been banned on this account before. The account itself was created a day ago (account confirmation email is dated Dec 28).

I have submitted a ticket and awaiting a response. Will update the post once an answer has been given to me from Riot. Thanks for the advice and also for the high doubt in my story as it indicates how crazy it is!

Okay, so I got to speak with a Riot employee and apparently there was a chat log missing from my report/ban card. This is the email I received:

We don't tolerate hateful speech such as telling others to kill themselves occurring in our game. Harsh punishments are placed on accounts that behave in this manner to discourage it from happening again.

Apparently, there was an extra game in the report reason and the 3 letters 'kys' can grant you a 14-day no question asked ban.

Since there is a gap (aka no overlap) between image #2 and #3, I am less inclined to believe that there is no monkey business going on. Please, do share an image of that gap, and we may be able to help you understand what was likely the cause of the punishment.

Soooo... you got banned on your previous account, created a new one and while being matched with some of the players that are new-ish to the game, you proceeded to flame them (where technically you're smurfing on low levels). The fact that you created this account one day ago might actually be the reason it went right to the 14 day ban.

If in fact you are telling the truth about not prior punishments then you should definitely submit a support ticket. Though I am still waking up this morning I see no zero tolerance words so I don't think this should have been escalated directly to a 14 day ban. If there is no escalation it should technically have been a 10 game chat restriction.

You wouldn't find this to be immediate 2 week punishment stuff. So yeah, write in a support ticket. It's possible that you were given the wrong logs or the system made a mistake.

Those are the kind of chat logs that would get me a 10 game chat restriction and even then it would take 2 or 3 games like those, so you're either lying or you've been punished before.

Be aware you could have been permabanned just for that word. Given that you were toxic in two games, I think your punishment is deserved

A few incidents like this one make me suspect that there's an unwritten rule where low-level accounts being piloted by folks that have clearly been playing the game a while are punished more severely for behavior. Possibly as a deterrent to banned players trolling newbies?

If the account has existed literally one day, maybe you've just been doing this in every game you've played? If in the course of one day you flamed people in like 9 games and got pinged by the IFS for each, I can see how you might've accumulated punishments very quickly. I don't think that's intended functionality, or necessarily possible, but I'm just spitballing here.

Regardless, you should submit a support ticket, because this doesn't look quite right.

Idk why they stepped up chat punishment so much, its the most insignificant form of game obstruction in my opinion. People who int, troll or afk (this one gets a bit messy because of shitty internet service providers ) get minimal or no punishment whatsoever, but if you say the wrong word in a chat box you can get a 14 day ban. I had the same thing happen to me back in june, My first ever punishment in 3 years of playing the game was a 14 day suspension for a game where I said 5 things because a premade was trolling me, and a game where the enemy team was trash talking and I had the nerve to trash talk back. I missed the first week and a half of the new honor system but I still managed to be in the first wave of people to get honor 5, go figure.

Its really annoying how much power people think words have. Honestly toxicity shouldn't even be regulated because its such an insignificant thing.

The honor system was a huge step though. Incentivizing people to not be toxic was a huge plus in my opinion. Punishments aren't the right way to handle people who use bad words, motivation like the honor incentive is the right way to handle it.
