can you get punished for playing non meta champions?
teemo jungle, teemo support, veigar jungle, stuff like that but not actually trolling or inting, playing seriously like everyone else but just with a niche champion pick.

If you're doing it knowing that it's not a good pick, believing it's not a good pick, putting yourself at a deficit for any reason, then you are griefing, and you really should be punished. If you're doing it because you're a teemo one trick who has 1005 ranked games on teemo this season with a 58% win rate, with two games on malphite and you get filled jungle, fuck it.. go teemo.. I have faith in papa teemo. If you know that you could do significantly better on something else, and you hurt your chances of winning by doing that in ranked then you should be punished. Do whatever you want in norms. Soraka adc. Up to you.
I'm pretty sure you know the answer to this and is just looking for validation from other non-salty people.
riot has always stated that they would not punish for off meta champs but if you are playing in ranked and it looks like you are feeding that is a whole different story.
Dwarf, did you sync up your boards account? You can do so in Help &Support... ( I'll check an edit it in ).

As for the non meta select, No if your trying to win. Yes, if some one trolls you and you report, and if Riot finds a history of this.

You are perfectly okay. Riot has said numerous times that people are free to pick and ban as they please as long as they are not griefing their teammates (e.g. using anivia walls to harass a teammate) and playing to win.
I haven't been banned. Just so long as you dont feed or anything.
The amount of reports people said they would give me last season for Udyr jungle. They can suck it, people even ban him now. Nothing's changed though so I dont know what the big fuss is about.
