Someone Please Tell Me What I Did Wrong Here

Here's my chat log from a 10 game chat restriction. It's not that hard to deal with, but I even have a recording of the game, and the racist remarks and death threats on their side were existent, while I get a 10 game chat restriction?

I do not believe my chat log below was toxic at all. Someone please tell me what I did wrong here. If saying stuff like "reported" or "imagine getting mad over a video game" is toxic, then Riot, I don't know what to say but your reporting system absolutely sucks.

which part of this chat log was contributing to winning the game?

all i see is you complaining CONSTANTLY while begging for and bragging about reports, both of which are punishable

Dimotai: Imagine getting mad Dimotai: over a video game

ironic huh?

If you took a year break, you may have had other games that would contribute to the punishment. You can always message support to see if there are additional logs they can provide.

At a glance it looks like the first thing you said was giving up. After that you are just generally combative with your team. In the future you should just mute them.

This is going to sound strange, but hear me out. Be more selfish.

Anything you say or do in the game, you should be thinking, "Is this going to get me closer to a win or closer to a loss."

None of this is going to get you closer to a win -

any arguing at all.. can get you chat banned..

does not matter who started it.. you participated, use your chat ban to learn that comments that are made in the game should be about winning the match.. anything else is not helpful.

and if your not talking to be helpful to your team.. then do not talk.

First thing you need to understand is that the system punishes based on consistency x severity, meaning you can be punished for 1 game of extreme toxicity or many many games of mild toxicity.

Now it is possible for playerA to get punished and playerB not to, even though playerB was waaayyyyy more toxic . Let's say playerA started the game with the toxicity meter at 95% and playerB's at 35%. Ingame, playerB said some pretty nasty shit and playerA responds with some shit as well. After the game, playerA gains 10% toxicity and playerB gains 50%. Now playerA is at 105% toxicity and gets punished, whereas playerB is at 85%, and not punished in that specific game, even though playerB was found to be 5x more toxic than playerA in that game.

So for your chatlog showed, you asked for reports multiple times, which is considered a harassment cos you are essentially threatening other's account safety and no one wants to be threatened. In itself is pretty minor, but when you exhibit the same behavior over many games, you will get punished.

League has been petty on how they handle their chat restrictions. And it's very sad and pathetic. The best you can do is remove yourself from the equation and just use MUTE right away. It keeps you from being too emotionally invested on what your other teammates say and helps you perform better (in my experience).

Think of it like this; every account has a hidden toxicity meter attached to it. Player A's meter is 80% full, while player B's is only 40% full. They both break the rules and both meters are filled 40% because both offenses were on the same severity level. Now, player A is gonna get a punishment, while player B does not. This doesn't mean their offense isnt counted against them. It will contribute to future punishments if they continue breaking the rules. Now player A has been chat restricted and his meter is at a clean 0%, while player B is at 80% and his next offense will likely result in a chat restrict, and player As next offense wont.

Yes, singling players out to get people to gang report them is against the rules. Reports merely trigger reviews. Multiple reports will not increase the likelihood of a review happening, because with 1 report, the review is gonna happen no matter what. So there is literally no reason to ever ask for reports, other than to antagonize someone. Thats the behavior riot is trying to deter with these rules. So next time youre getting flamed, just report them. It will have the same effect as asking others to report them too, except you wont be contributing to the negative atmosphere in chat.
