Tips And Tricks To Help Destress And Deal With Some Common Problems

It seems to me like everyone stresses out fairly easily, over simple things with simple solutions. Yes there are quite a few things that get annoying, but here is some tips and tricks to hopefully help anyone who is willing to apply at least some of these.

  • Play some uplifting music that you enjoy listening to. Not only does it help keep your mind off the toxic chat when/if it arises, but from my experience, I actually play better often times because I am thinking less and doing more.

  • Point out 3 positive things that happened during the game. Some ideas are..... Did someone save you from what could have been certain doom? Did you save someone else? Did you have the best CS on your team/in the game? Did you manage to outplay and kill the fed enemy? Was there a funny moment that just made you laugh? There is plenty of things, no matter how small they may seem, that can be pointed out as positive. Look for them and see how many you can find. This is not for bragging purposes, but for shifting your mind set. Everyone can remember that 1 person who was a complete jerk.... whether it be at work, school, at the store, etc... and often times it puts that little damper on the day that was so great before. Why let them ruin it? Are they really worth it?

  • Point out 3 things that you personally can work on. Did you miss the first 3 melee minions? Are you pushing the wave a little harder than you should, so it is easier for the enemy jungler/mid to gank? Is there a mechanic in the champion that you can't seem to utilize effectively while in the middle of a fight (example, Kalista's auto jumping)? Do you help the support ward around with your trinket? Do you go a little too ham? Everyone has a few things they can improve in every game. You do not need to criticize yourself and try to view EVERY detail, just think of some things that you personally could have done better, that has nothing to do with someone else (for a not good example.... "I shouldn't have given them top lane.") This will help improve your overall game play, which will then result in less stress because you are fixing some of the problems you are having.

  • Remember that outplays do happen. If you are winning your lane, but someone else is losing theirs...... The same thing is happening on the enemy team. One laner/s are losing their lane, but another is winning. There is no need to be toxic to them, it will help nothing.

  • If there is a troll, Ignore them. Do not give them the satisfaction of knowing that you are getting tilted by them. They will just step things up a notch. There is a big difference between intentional feeding and getting outplayed. If they keep diving under the enemy tower and dieing, it is feeding. If they are under the ally tower and are unable to survive, it is not. If you are not there and watching it as it is happening, do not assume (just watch the replay at the end if it is so important). It is better for them to attempt to farm than to just leave the lane, because they eventually become worth less gold than a cannon minion and eventually the team fighting will begin. Sure the enemy looks like they are fed out of the wazzoo...... But I have actually had a game where we were down by 19? or so kills and still had more team gold than the enemy and won. Kills do not mean wins.

  • Remember that kills do not instantly mean wins. Farm is MUCH more important than kills, same with towers and objectives like dragon and baron. Unless you can capitalize on the enemy's death, do not go out of your way to kill them.

  • MUTE TOXIC PEOPLE! This is similar to getting rid of a bad apple, so that the other apples do not go bad faster. Just mute them, ignore them, and report them after the game. You will not always get a "this person has been punished" report, but they will often times be dealt with and punished. There is no need to call out for reports, people will either report them or they will not. Calling out "hey report this person" will simply feed the troll/toxic person. They will know you are getting tilted and so they will try harder to do so. Just ignore them.

  • Do not get alarmed if someone is saying they will report you. If you are doing nothing wrong, there will be no punishment. I have not had any punishment happen to me for years due to reports.... even after i got killed over and over by enemy lucky RNG, enemy jungler camping, and my just bad playing. If you are not intentionally feeding, there is no reason to worry. If you are not saying anything bad, there is no need to worry.

  • ATTITUDES ARE CONTAGIOUS! If you have a positive attitude, you will likely have a better game. People will like playing with you, and will help you more. A positive attitude at the start of the game can literally be the first stepping stone to you winning that game of promos to rank up, or to getting that final S for mastery 7 on your favorite champion, etc. I almost always start out the game saying "hello, good luck, and have fun everyone". Hope everyone has a more positive gaming experience, and hopefully some of these are utilized and passed along.

  • Remember that the game is full of new and old players. Not everyone who you play with will be on the same level of skill as you are. They could be better, or they could be worse... And they can be on either team. There is no need to flame at someone who is doing worse than you, or who is doing better than you. If you wish to give advice.... Remember people will respond how you would like more often, if you are nicer in how you word things. This will prevent people from getting defencive and argueing back and forth, which results in less playing and more typing.

  • If you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all. Thumper rule number 2 for all those that remember Bambi. Banter can be entertaining, but do not actively try putting people down. This results in a worse experience for you more than them especially if they just mute you.

  • If you are on a losing streak, try playing some bot games. This will help get rid of some of your stress from the previous games by letting you completely and totally decimate and destroy your opponents. I have found this also helps boost boost peoples confidence with their champion, which will often lead to better games.

  • Have confidence in your ability to play your champions. You play them, you know what they do. Doubting yourself leads to more problems and could ruin your entire mood of playing with that champion and make you do worse. Practice practice practice, try out some things if you really want to try them. Preferably not ranked at first. Recommended bots then normals.

Play the game, enjoy the game, and have fun doing so.

Good luck, and have fun everyone.

Sincerely,

Wolfcub2000

Welp. I'm that guy you posted to on my "not sure how to move on from League" thread.

Sadly, I've cared far too much about my rank since that day I've got first placed in bronze, I've been banned once for toxic behavior (via expecting everyone to call me dogshit for losing) and got perma-banned for paying for boosting all because I got stuck back in Bronze 5.

It's like I need to be remembered to be a dumb bronzie until I'm an old man; I guess my fate is to be an bitter hermit elder master while young talent zooms past me.

I guess this damn PvP game was not meant to be for me...

"Here lies SneaselSawashiro, former bronze dogshit."

Plus, it would be deemed as "completely my fault" anyways that I'm in bronze, and perma banned while in it.

Also chatting with your laner and trying to play in character in chat is fun.
