You can literally turn on chat filter so why do you report bad words

explain the logic to turn off chat filter and then get upset when somebody says a no no

[slayer-jinx-unamused]

EDIT: So chat filter is basically a band aid to what people say so muting should be the solution or continue to get emotional on a game and report people.

  1. People can easily avoid filters
  2. It's not on others to control your behavior
  3. A word being censored doesn't mean it isn't understood

Some players don't like cursing. The chat filter exists so that players who are okay with cursing can curse all they want. Remember, this game is ages 13+, but enough uses of the word "fuck" can merit an R-rating, so this option exists for players who don't want to see "Fuck that fucking fuck Yasuo and his fucking OP bullshit."

It is not intended as an excuse to use insults, hatespeech, or other offensive behavior.

As others have said, swearing is not in and of itself against the rules; it's leveling swears at another player that crosses a line. It's the difference between saying "aw, fuck" and "go fuck yourself you piece of shit".

Additionally; the Mature Language Filter is simply there so that people with sensibilities to swearing/harsh language don't have to see it.

EDIT: So chat filter is basically a band aid to what people say so muting should be the solution or continue to get emotional on a game and report people.

Muting is a solution, but it's also a band-aid solution. It only prevents you from seeing further chat misbehavior; it doesn't magically stop someone from flaming and being a general ass. Another solution, one more likely to actually rectify the toxic player's behavior, is to report them. More often than not, a punishment is a surefire way to get players to shape up their behavior.

And, no, not every report is emotionally charged. It's more appropriate to say that the people getting toxic are the ones who get emotional than the ones who report them; after all, who's the one ranting and raving in chat, and who's the one quietly giving Riot the heads-up that someone's acting out?

And, of course, it has to be said; The mute feature doesn't supercede the rules you agreed to upon signing up for League. You agreed to a set of rules; if you decide to break them, you don't get to complain when you get punished.

it's not the words that annoy people, it's the attitude.

Cursing is not against the rules. Being an asshole is against the rules.

"Fucking hell, I can't believe I walked into that bush." isn't going to result in a punishment.

"Fuck you, idiot Lee Sin." is going to result in a punishment.

Notice the difference?

You can literally not flame or say bad words and be free of all punishments chats related .

and you speak of emotional on a game where you cant control what you type

No one reports for swears. If someone fucking reports you for fucking using the word fuck, then their report goes into the mother fucking trash.

What is reported is chat related harassment and slurs, as that is actually taking aim at someone.

Because it's more fun that way

Basically like my previous example, aimed to trigger happy emotions in weak minded people who know riot punishes for them, similar to middle school where little jimmy snitches on someone eating food in the library so he can feel good the adult punishes him, (harmless behavior punished for self gain)

I'm not sure why the op is getting downvoted. I see this as a legitimate question that received legitimate answers.
