Recently received a 14 day suspension without any prior chat ban or warnings. I submitted and ticket and a Rioter looked into my situation and lowered the ban to a 10 game chat ban. I understand that I had conveyed some negative behavior in chat and I will improve my behavior on the rift. Just wanted to say I'm thankful and grateful for the Riot employee who helped me out. Thanks!

it should be pointed out that any punishment, be it chat restriction, 2 week ban or low priority queue IS a warning
Yeah, I mean I've only recently gotten a 9-game chat restriction for having a negative attitude (I eventually muted the person I was arguing with and played the match to victory, but prior to that I stated in chat that I was deliberately not helping them with the knowledge that that would negatively impact the match for the team), so it's a pretty mild penalty anyways. It's supposed to be based on the frequency of punishments, but I definitely got away with being incredibly abusive for about two years before I'd gotten one punishment, and that one was a 30-game chat restriction at the time.
