I can predict which players in my games are going to be toxic with 80%+ accuracy

Thanks to the lack of borders in the loading screen.

I've actually started taking note of which players on my team don't have borders; virtually every game with Diamond+ players has at least one borderless teammate. After they start raging, I look them up, and unsurprisingly find that they have hundreds of games played, meaning they lost their honor to punishment.

This makes it pretty clear that punished players don't reform; if anything, they're just expressing their toxicity in a way that goes undetected, often with passive aggressive comments and spamming pings.

Is that 80% specificity, sensitivity or generally the percentage of correct predictions? Because if it's the latter that accuracy tells us pretty little without also knowing how often each of those things ("people have no border" and "people are toxic") occur. [Edit: As a matter of fact even specificity and sensitivity don't tell us the whole story on their own. You kinda either need both of them or, again, the entire statistics surrounding each event.]

Also: Did you keep a tally? If you didn't keep a tally, don't expect that 80% to be anywhere near the actual number. Mind that I am not saying that your memory is unreliable, but that human memory is unreliable. I occasionally make similar statements to myself in other areas, only to have those statements fall apart when I actually start doing the math. Confirmation bias is a bitch.

The people that don't have borders from being punished....are very specifically the people who had their negative behavior detected and punished.

If the people you identified as toxic had borders and honor 5, that would indicate that there was a failure of detection.

Fuck borders. It's a PvP game not an ass kissing sim dating service.

There are actually things you can watch for in player behavior such as speech patterns, words used and reactions to common phrases that also tell you this very fast. Not sure that a border is a real sign of it but generally if someone has lost honor they probably did so by being toxic.

I guess the remaining 20% comes from the ones that are either reformed, choose to opt out of their border or players new to the rank?

It's not too suprising. Afterall, Diamond players have huge egos.

Can attest to this. I was toxic for a while until I got Chat Restricted. I was honestly waiting for it for a while... [slayer-jinx-unamused]
