Hasn't this situation already resolved itself a few months ago? Not that I particularly agree with the way Riot tried to frame why he got punished.
Did you just find this out?
He does not deserve any punishment because matchmaking places people at the level of their contribution. Him playing non-meta is the same skill level as the people reporting him.
