how many people even read the chat logs when players post them?

I usually read every single line of every chat log that's posted here. I like to try and give players a clear explanation of what triggered a punishment and how they can better perform in the future.

There are some situations where I'll instantly see something special (like hate speech or death threats) and I'll just resort to skimming through the rest since I've already located the main issue.

for me it depends on the tone of the poster, if they are genuinely looking for a discussion or explanation I will read them.

if it's a blatant rage post, usually you dont have to bother

I read them, but I personally tend to skim it - negative behaviors are usually fairly easy to pinpoint, so my brain's hard-wired to try and find them for the OP.

Sometimes I give a more thorough read if I find any borderline behaviors, but, by and large, I skim.

Props for having that as a poll option, BTW.

I usually read all of it. Even if they’re saying zero tolerance phrases, it’s still helpful to point out anything else wrong with their logs so that they may avoid future punishment.

Usually all of it. If there is a lot of zero-tolerance word usage I might just skip the rest since it's obvious what the issue is, but often I read through it all.

Only when they request to help them identify what went wrong.

I skip it if they are asking for systemic stuff like "why weren't they punished but I was?"
