"We do not allow name and shame on these boards"
Meanwhile the red post is the literal textbook definition of a name and shame thread.

they did it because if they didn't give somewhat of a reason why Tyler1 was banned, it would just be post after post after annoying post about Tyler1....but sadly it's still happening. He deserved the ban and Riot did things correctly. Regardless if he was SLOWLY reforming, he wasn't reforming fast enough and Riot had to finally put their foot down after 18+ accounts of his being permabanned
In this case, it falls squarely into a case of Tyler being a public figure.
Tyler by no means, hid his behavior. By not only streaming his actions, but also, taking pride in the fact that he had over a dozen and a half accounts banned, and the title of "Most Toxic Player", let alone monetizing his streaming off of those things, he has voluntarily opened himself up to public opinion regarding his actions. Especially, when it comes to displaying behavior, which Riot does not approve of in their game.
what would be the point of it?
Seems to me that it was a message to the community, a show of force, if you will.
A "look what we did to this popular streamer for toxicity, think we'll have a problem doing it to you?" sort of message.
