Struggling to climb

Hello summoners,

Last season I placed silver 1, dropped to silver 3/4 currently bronze 1 this season, I have no problem with where I am and im willing to climb and learn, but I get so discouraged by games like this

http://imgur.com/Ijk6eqF (This was obviously intentional feeding, feels like reporting just doesnt do me justice)

Games like this make me terrified of clicking that launch button, I just want advice on how to deal with this and tips for climbing would be great, Im getting to the point where I am scared of playing ranked all together, I want to climb so bad, Its so unfair that we have to suffer over something we can hardly even control, most of the time during this game I just had my head on my desk knowing there was nothing I could do, anyways,

Tips on how to deal with this and on how to climb would be greatly appreciated, thanks all

I like what @KeI143 said below. yes every time Riot starts a new season things are really bad for a few months. This is because Riot needs an excuse to reset players rank to match their hidden MMR. Throughout the regular season a great majority of players rank up higher than their MMR. No fault of theirs, it is an issue with Riots system. Either the MMR rating does not actually match the players skill, or more likely the system is full of faults and they just have to reset it with a band-aid instead of trying to resolve the actual issue.

Anyway yes it is terrible for roughly everyone. You have much higher tiered players getting thrown in with really bad ones and either lose because they are too heavy to carry, or players get a free win because they are lucky enough to have that person on their team.

I had two ranked games Saturday night. One with a guy going teemo jungle. He died to the 2nd camp (you can imagine how that went) and a second game in which our mid laner was AFK for the first 22 minutes of the game.

Almost everyone has stories like this. The teemo pick wasn't a bannable offense. I am sure people on my team reported him, but he didn't break any rules. He wasn't running to lane and simply feeding to throw the game. For some reason he had a good game at one point in time and he thought Teemo jungle was the best thing ever. He was very wrong, but again he didn't break any rules.

The mid laner going AFK for 22 minutes... Was against the rules. Who is to say if he was not just standing at the fountain clicking the "I am not AFK button" or if he really was AFK. He did eventually DC and he did eventually come back, but of course by that point the other team was way to far ahead. Did he get punished? I will never know.

I do know that in both of these cases I lost LP at the same amount I would of if it was a straight 5v5.

The sad truth is everyone has plenty of games like this. Everyone has stories. These are just two of mine from one day. Could Riot try to do more to make the gaming experience better for everyone? Yes they could, but Riot's policy is they do not implement things that exclude or ban more players than they otherwise would if they made no change.

My advice to you is try to find people of equal rank to play with. This is extremely hard to do even after 6 years Riot has not implemented a system to help you find people to play with. Last I heard they were looking at implementing a social system to help you chat with your buddies and integrate their the app. Or in other words they are trying to create a system to replace something that is already very simple and used throughout the world called texting and whatsapp. The other sad truth is whoever you find and queue with will likely rage and leave your queue group if you ever lose >.<

Sweetie, if you are playing by yourself it's harder to rank up because Riot encourages premades by removing a lot of mmr restriction on them. So play with your friends or continue to lose. The other alternative is boycott the new champ select so Riot will bring solo queue back :^).

ehh.. i don't know if thats "intentional" feeding or not. but it is feeding though, which is not a reportable offense.

a high diamond once said; 40% of gmae you will loose out right, 40% of games you'll stomp like crazy. remaining 20% of the games you have influence over, with how you make your decisions and plays.

Next time, press F12 for a screenshot, it is automatically stored in the game folder- c:/riot games/league of legends/screenshots.

It freezes the game for a sec, but still it is the easiest/fastest way to do it.

In the new Dynamic que, you WILL lose more games as a solo player.

You are more likely to get the feeders, afkers, and trolls.

Solution: Remove 4-man que. Add solo-que.

4-man ques take the longest anyway.

You have my sincerest condolences. That's truly unfortunate. Just one of the ways "dynamic" queue can leave solo players out in the cold.

I haven't been in Bronze for a few years now (doesn't mean I don't see bronze play on a daily basis), but from what I understand, you can get away with a lot of things that you couldn't in higher elos. For example, playing Rammus jungle. Rammus has a high win rate right now, but you can't play him in high elos because he'll always get counter jungled, putting you severely behind. Nobody in bronze should be that smart.

Play simple to understand, simple to execute champs. Volibear, Xin Zhao, Rammus are good examples. If you must support, play an aggressive champ like Blitzcrank or Nautilus. Avoid champs like Janna or Soraka. They have zero carry potential. At least with Blitz or Naut, you can get good picks and catch the enemy unaware. I've heard often that the team that engages first in solo queue is generally the one that comes out on top.

I can really only offer advice for jungle and support, but stick to using simple to understand champs in any role and you'll do well. Lee Sin, Zed, Syndra, Orianna, yeah, I wouldn't recommend those.

It's hard in the early season. There's a lot of inaccurate placements. I have a friend who is easily the worst league player I've ever known. When he started, he was playing with me and my friends only and so he got a little mmr boosted and now he got placed in bronze 1. He only plays maybe 3-5 games a week and jumped into rank right at level 30. He will never get better because he doesn't play enough and shows very little interest in actually learning the game in depth.

We always made him play support because he would easily get beat by anyone in lane and the one time he tried adc it was.... just pathetic. He only plays braum and he builds full support item first, and then a FULLY upgraded sightstone second. He doesn't understand the items, counter building, forgets his ult all the time, never uses his actives, and just doesn't seem to listen when I tell him what to build and why. He just doesn't get it. He won't even drop far from b1 because he rarely plays. He'll sit online waiting for friends and I to play with him. I've stopped playing with him even tho he's a IRL friend, but I feel bad for anyone trying to win their promos to silver and having this guy on their team.

Anyways, just keep trying. You'll have those games but the more you play, the better your chances of climbing. Just keep trying buddy, I know it's rough.

I've been having the same basic problem, and I've tracked the numbers for my team and the enemy team, and it seems the mmr system is just broken at low elos. I've tried to contact support about it and have posted to the boards, but while it would work, and does work above bronze, it falls apart when there is no bottom to the player pool. Basically, the game seems to be balanced, but the problem is, as you get better, your team gets worse. So when you hit a 65-80% win rate, your teammates win rates will average below 30%. Since they can't be demoted, there is basically no limit to how bad your team will get as your win rate goes up. I was up to a 78% win rate over 20 games, and had back to back games where my team (minus myself) went 4/49. It also gets more frustrating, when you factor in the toxic and troll/afk players, who tend to have the lowest win rates, will be on your team more often if you yourself have a positive win rating. I've hit an average of 3:1 for afk, and 7:1 for troll/feed. The explanations given to how the mmr works it also very careful in the wording, and never actually claims that the system works, it only says that you are paired according to the system.

This is why I jungle. If I can act quick enough to get some lanes rolling with early ganks, its near impossible for them to feed. Low ELO games are decided by the early game. People know how to carry but only when ahead. When people are behind, they feed like crazy.

But I never get less surprised when mid lane is 0/3 at 6 minutes. Sometimes there are things you literally can't help.
