So you can't account share because it's cheating and unethical, but what about as a parent/guardian?

is there consideration for parents though?

I'm asking because my friend's friend's baby daddy is a loser and wont play video games with the 8 year old.. nor will he spend more than the minimum required time on hanging out with his own son.

So since he wont watch the kid while the kid's mom is working, the kid gets dumped on my couch since my roommate is his godmother

and me, having paternal instinct, I'm slowly letting the kid play my video games and stuff and buying him lunch because being a little boy without a father is a shitty shitty thing

The kid is 8, I wanted to let him play on my account (Assuming I resize and hide the chat console, then discreetly enter /mute all enter that way he could try out whatever he thinks looks cool and i'd buy him it on his own account later on

I guess what i'm asking is, what is the ruling on the adult in charge of the kid in relation to the account? What about letting your 4-9 year old play bots or something? I think the idea of learning how stats work together would be somehow healthy, not sure why, but i really do.

Given that League is a 13+ game as per the Terms of Use, and that account sharing does not have any listed exceptions, I would imagine this would not be allowed for both reasons.

It is still technically breaking the rules, sadly. Good on you though.

It sounds like the kid already has their own account, and if they don't just make one with a password of your choice. That way you can still be protective and monitor the play but the account is technically theirs.

Free rotations should allow for trial of champs over time.

It is against the terms of service for anyone under the age of 13 to operate League of Legends without the parent or guardian signing physical forms with Riot. I'm not sure the process for this but it's all because of the lovely law in the US called COPPA.

It takes 2 minutes to start an account.

From the ToS:

Only people ages 13 or older may create an account or use the Riot Services. If you’re at least 13 years old, but not yet legally considered an “adult” in the country you live in, you must ask one of your parents (or other legal guardians) to read this Agreement and accept it on your behalf.

and:

When you create an account with us, we require you to select a unique username and password (collectively, your “Login Credentials”), which you’ll use each time you access the Game. You can’t share your account or Login Credentials with anyone. You can’t sell, transfer or allow any other person to access your account or Login Credentials, or offer to do so.

Since the Terms of Service don't allow someone under 13 to maintain an account and you also can't share an account, maybe you should find some other way to entertain him. Perhaps you could play catch with him, or find some age-appropriate books (libraries are great), or talk to him about his hobbies (i.e. look interested while he talks at you).

Also: Most online games (including CoD) have a 13-year minimum. It's not the companies' fault parents don't pay attention and monitor what their kids are doing.

As far as appropriate games, I'd suggest starting him on single player or local multiplayer. And talk to the kid's mom before just getting him games.

Believe it or not, you can make the child an account for free and let them play bot games on it. They'll get champs, level up and all that stuff like any other new player.
