Banning Toxic Players

Why do people think they can get away with getting reported? When we report people, they say things like "It won't do anything" or "Nothing will happen". Why? Reporting people should be affected. Most of these people create the community, and give money to play the game. Which funds Riot. But, these people are getting out of hand. Reporting people with writing in the space below should get banned. Not just a pat on the wrist. People are constantly flaming, going "afk" (not doing anything and walking around in base so they get blue essence or just leaving in general), or trolling and getting away with it. I reported a person today because they had the role of support but they went mid. He ( AurelionSol ) came into a draft pick lobby and said "me mid". I ( Janna ), being the mid laner, said "no, you're bot", thinking he looked at the wrong champ. He continued to say "me mid" and wouldn't switch to support. So I was forced to play support in order to keep the game somewhat in balanced. During the game, he fed early game and constantly flamed our team and the opposing team by calling champions garbage and by spam pinging on multiple occasions. Pinging once or twice is fine, sometimes spam pinging is okay when you need to do it. But spam pinging to either annoy others or to make someone do something they don't want to do (ie. spam pinging to get a gank multiple times, spam pinging tower or champions on random occasions whenever the jungler is nearby, etc.). Yes I do these things sometimes whenever I get tilted or when I am having a bad day. At the end of the game though, he said "reports don't do anything" and that only 1 report will do something, multiple reports don't do anything. People agreed because it's kind of true. Whenever I report someone once, they get banned or put in LPQ (Low Priority Queue). But when multiple people ban the same person, nothing happens. Maybe once or twice, but these things are very rare. These reports need to do some work because with them doing nothing, toxic people in this community will just get worse.

TL;DR, Reports aren't doing anything and they need to be fixed to actually do something to toxic players because this entire community is made up of toxic people.

People do get banned for toxic behavior. Some cases are harder though, especially if one doesn't give a description of what happened in the report box. In your case, if you simply reported Sol, but didn't say why, or would look like you two just lane swapped.

people report me all the time, typically for bad plays or strategic disagreements. My standard response to them is indeed "try it, it won't do anything to me", because I know their reports won't do anything to me.

People who say those things or are affected by it either know alot about the system or they don't know enough about the system.

In your case, you are irritated by this cos you don't know enough about the system. Allow me to shed some light here in attempts to ease your worries:

  1. Multiple reports within the same game act the same as one report. So there really is no need to ask for reports.

  2. False reports get thrown out by the system

  3. Every valid report will accumulate in a person's behavioral history and eventually punish them, as the system considers the whole behavioral history when punishing others. Every valid report counts.

Happy to expand and explain more if you have more questions.

reports do nothing. if they actually did something 99% of the playerbase would be perma banned for feeding and toxic in less than 2 hours
