Why is my account banned?

I think someone stole my account and now it is banned. I haven't been on it in years. Is that possible?

Someone could have hijacked your account or you got banned for using third party programs. For third party programs, most companies ban accounts in waves as to not give any clues to script developers on how they can prevent future detection.

You can try filing a support ticket to get a better explanation. File a support ticket here.

If someone illegitimately accessed your account and it's now banned, it's likely one of two things: a ban for scripting or a shield ban put in place when suspicious activity is detected on an account. If it's the former, if you can prove it was not you playing the games in which scripts were employed, you may have the ban lifted. If it's a shield ban, you'll need to prove you're the account creator to regain access.

If it's a ban for scripting, the message should have told you that you were banned for using third-party programs. If the message was vague or didn't give a reason, it was most likely a shield ban.

Sure it's possible. But what does it say when you try to log in?

What does the email say? Riot should have sent you an email.
