The game and the community itself

I have been playing for almost a year now. i have had great times playing, also bad times playing. I learned some things by playing this game and I'm going to write them here. I really appreciate if you read them and share your opinion, feedback is needed for a change. This is mostly for ranked games.

  1. There is no thing such as "Victory" in this game, unless in the competitive scene. You lose or you simply don't lose. (Remember this, it is so important for the upcoming text and interpretation). So, whenever you are waiting for the queue to prepare a game, you may be thinking about what will you pick, trying to have a good mentality (reminder, may) and prepare yourself for the game. But, will you feel great after maybe losing a game that took 40 minutes of your life and because someone didn't have enough acknowledge of the game or simply decided to do badly? What is elo outside of League of Legends? Even inside of it. A standard to say good or bad player? Winning a golden and exclusive skin for getting to Gold, or maybe a Challenger Jacket? Wow, magnificent. (Irony here)

  2. There is always a "troll or feeder". You win the game? Someone on the enemy team took bad decisions or you simply took better decisions than them (It kinda is the same thing, if you are better than them, they may be "bad" or at least worse) You lose? Same thing, but now that guy is on your team or maybe it is you. Many times I try to put myself onto the other side. When I lose, I feel bad, maybe I did badly, maybe someone did badly. And when I win, probably someone on the enemy team will feel bad because of this.

  3. People try to find a reasoning to why there are many trolls or whatever. So, 2. explains that perfectly. And you can't avoid it to happen. Either you lose or you don't lose, but you don't win at all. "Do your job, carry yourself". Typical sentences of "How to climb elo" videos. You can't do this. Finding an answer on how to resolve a problem that 1/2/3/4/5 persons cause? Huh, nice try. A simple bad decision can make you lose. And that's how this game works.

Well, I think those arguments are enough for now. So, as you can see, you can't find a solution for how this game works and you can't change it. So now your decision belongs to you. You know what you want to do with your life (Maybe not, it happens aka me) If you enjoy the game, have a healthy gameplay and it's all okay with you, fine, enjoy while you can. If not, i would recommend you to stop falling with the same stone. Maybe you have to change your mindset if you really like the game but are so burned because of the community. I honestly recommend people that want to have a life doing what they like, to think about their life, if playing League of Legends is healthy for you or not. That's all I gotta say I think. Sorry if my English was bad. Hope this made you think about your life :)

The community will remain toxic and will never improve unless the community actually becomes proactive and uses the tools that Riot has given to make the community a better place.

Unfortunately, it seems almost taboo to use the report feature in the League community since it seems that people will mock someone who does so, which in effect, makes the community worse.

Originally, Riot DID have a way to kind of police the community using community effort, with the Tribunal, but that's been buried and has been like that for a good 4+ years. They got rid of it to "improve" it, but there hasn't really been an update on it recently. Personally, I think they just scrapped the entire idea and don't want to be open about getting rid of it.

The community itself is toxic. Back in 2011 to 2013, the amount of toxic players were the extreme minority, and a lot of the people in the community were great people. I learned a lot from them on how to play MOBAs. Though, skip forward to this year, I find it hard to say that the community has changed for the better, but I can say easily that the community has changed for the worse.

On the climb to 30, I have had at most, 1 game where I legitimately enjoyed playing, mainly because one of the people on my team is a real-life friend that I was talking to and catching up with. The other person was also nice, explaining that they were just taking a break from life, much like my friend and I were. The rest of the games, I haven't enjoyed at all, mainly because if the people in the game aren't bots, they're toxic, or they're extremely passive aggressive by spamming pings and never talking in the ingame chat box.

The climb to 30 scares away new potential players. I've already experienced it once, and my first climb to 30 wasn't bad. For this climb to 30? There's a reason for why I have always told others who are curious about League to find a different game to play. I don't want others to experience the miserable climb to 30, and I'd prefer others to play a game where they can legitimately enjoy it or interacting with the community. New players won't find that in League.
