Am I in the wrong?

I don't like ulting someone screaming "WOW UR BRONZE ULT ME!"

So I played a game of Zil with a really toxic 3 man team. I didn't want to ult any of them because they bullied my friend and continued to be toxic during the game. I ganked our toxic midlaner 3 times and got him 3 kills when he was Fizz but then they continued to be toxic towards my friend that wasn't playing good. After that I stopped ulting them and started using it on myself more. Am I wrong to do this?

Honestly, it is a gray area.

On one hand, you have the choice to use you abilities on whoever you want. So it isn't against game rules.

One the other hand, you are possibly being suboptimal and throwing the match.

So it depends on what you mean by wrong. Rule wise? No. Behavior wise? Potentially.

If you are consciously willing to let them die and lose a game for them, because they don't deserve to win, in my opinion you should be permabanned, even if you win the game.

If you find yourself less tilted than them and more in control of the game if you ult yourself - it's fine, even if you lose the game off it.

The question is how to catch you in the first case and not accidentally punish in the second.

nope. no rule stating you have to use your ult for someone else.

Someone who is toxic is likely already tilted and would not make good use of an ult.

It's perfectly reasonable to conclude it better to save for another teammate if they aren't playing well enough to make it worth it. It's not reasonable to deny them the ult just cause they called you out on a part mistake.

if you chose not to ult him because there was a better option than its fine if you were doing it because you wanted to in some way get back at him thats not okay

Like Imperial Pandaa said, it's kind of hard to really say if you're wrong in doing that. Tactically speaking, it's probably a dumb move, and deliberately making that dumb move just to spite your teammates...Well, that's potentially worth punishing.

There's no real rules saying "you should only ever ult other players" - shit like that would be hard-coded in the game, anyhow, like having Zilean unable to cast Chronoshift on himself. But, there are general principles that apply to defensive abilities like that - namely, they're best applied to someone who can make the most impact in a fight.

All that aside, my advice to you is this; it is ultimately your choice who you use your abilities on, but I would advocate to ignore a player's toxicity when deciding who to use them on. It's much better to win a match with a grudge (and the knowledge that they'd inevitably get punished) than to lose one out of spite.

FYI I didn't go afk or int but I still pisst them off enough to get three reports

I think you should have played to win and if that ment ulting the toxic bullies, then you should have ulted them. After the match you should have reported the toxicity/bullying. And once that is done, forget it happened and move on.

I believe that I would have reported you if I had realized you didn't use your ult on purpose - not that IFS would punish you for that - but it would have been the right thing, since you didn't try to win (that counts as negative behavior at least in my books).

You're never gonna get caught for it, but I'd consider it to be unsportsmanlike behavior.
