Serious talk about bans

Hello people of League of Legends,

I'm a bronze player who's been playing on various servers since season 4, and I've finally just gotten my first perma ban. While I do agree that to an extent, my verbal conducts may not have been exemplary, often times I end up with people who try to tilt their teammates for the sake of tilting their teammates.

Just to be clear, I'm not arguing that my account should be recovered, nor am I claiming to not have been toxic with my games, ever.

What I'm getting at, essentially, is that while nobody put words in my mouth, it is highly frustrating to play with a teammate who dedicates the entire durations of the game angering me. Now, I'm just curious as to whether those people; the ones who sow dishamony. I really do believe that there is a direct correlation between number of these sly assholes who don't actually use profanity just to avoid getting stopped by the system, and the number of toxic players on the team they're on.

I demand that Riot Games tells me what the status is on the player, "<removed by moderation>", is getting the same treatment from the system and this isn't just an attack on people who just tend to use profanity more than others both IRL and in game. I'm not necessarily saying "he started it" or "he should be banned too"; I just want to know that the ban system actually works. I'm well aware of the community guidelines and what it says about profanity, but if it is the sole central filtering mechanism for toxicity, I'm outie and I want nothing to do with the community of this game that I poured years into playing.

It does. Each player has their own progression through the punishment system though, so we can't really guess at where he may have been or whether or not your report resulted in a punishment for him. It's possible that his behavior earned him a ban, a restriction, or merely progress towards whatever the next level of punishment for his account is. If he wasn't using profanity it can still catch him -- the system is smarter than you think in terms of picking up subtle toxicity.

Riot will NOT, however, tell you his status, as you do not have a right to access private information on another individual's account, and punishment status is considered private account information.

I've also removed his name from your post, as we do have a board rules against calling other players out by name.

I'm sorry you played with that character, but naming and shaming isn't allowed on the boards.

I'm thinking that if a "player dedicated the entirety of the game to angering you", then there was at least some point you realized that further communication with them was not only unhelpful, but detrimental to your team. You should have just muted and reported him in the post game.

There's plenty of posts on this subforum that shows it works. However, players can be on different rungs of the punishment system. So while you may have been permabanned, this could have been their first offense ever, or their last.

There must be a reason someone targets you to harass during the game, since your reactions are what feeds trolls. Take away the enjoyment of a troll, they loose the desire to harass someone.
