Regarding all the hacked players recently

This is a much greater volume than usual, Riot. I really don't think this is just players failing to protect their account info. Isn't it weird that suddenly a large number of people are just losing sticky notes with their account's password and usernames on them? I also doubt that many of them are lying. Please Riot, do something other than tell these people that they're responsible for their own account security. If someone is hacking into the databases, I don't think that all of these victims are exactly pro computer programmers...

About a week ago, there was the largest data breach in history with over 770 million emails and passwords being compromised. If there's been an increase in lost accounts recently, I'm guessing there's some correlation there. Riot mentioned back in 2017 that they were going to be releasing MFA "some time in the coming year", and it just never happened. Supposedly they're going to be releasing it this year though.

Yeah, a good friend of mine recently got back on the game after a year and a half. We all joked his account would be hacked but when he logged in it actually was hacked. They had unfriended all his friends and used his BE to get new champions. Luckily they didn't do anything ban worthy, but every person left on his friends list had Korean statuses so it wasn't like a sharing situation with people he knew.

My friend (and the rest of us) are big IT nerds so it wasn't a matter of him being stupid and having a bad password and giving out account information. We have another friend who was so addicted to smurfing he bought new accounts every so often to feed his addiction. On Overwatch when he did this he had to buy the game (dude has like 7 OW accounts and it's hilarious he bought it full price so many times) but on League there are so many hacked accounts he could buy level 30+ accounts to smurf on for like $5 a pop.

Something is definitely screwy and honestly seeing how Riot support treats people who lost their account makes me kinda nervous. Idk why they won't just add an authenticator like Steam has, they've claimed it's in the works for a long time.

We can do our best to protect our accounts, like using unique strong passwords, but without MFA, it's pretty basic security riot has. The fact that MFA was mentioned 2 years ago, does not make me happy with riot nor does it make me trust them. With all the money people spend on this game, they should be assured that riot is doing something to help keep their accounts as secure as possible.

Honestly, if I had spent tons of money, lost the account and riot refused to help or have better security, you can be sure I wouldn't play or spend money on this game again. Who wants to spend all that money again and have no real assurance if something happens that you'll get any help?
