Why is it against the summoners code to sell your account?

I've read through their reasoning but I want an honest answer from an actual player not someone who is in it for money. What is the moral problem with selling your account for a game you're dissatisfied with. Upon purchasing items for your account I'd assume you do it purely because you enjoy the game at the time. Once the game changes to a game which you no longer enjoy because the game lacks any resemblance of balance why are you not allowed to sell your account.

Edit - Let me make it clear. I don't want to sell my account. I simply want to know what reasoning there is for selling it being against the summoners code other than a monetary reason. Because lets assume you're correct that they'll lose potential monies due to specific skins being purchased on the account but what if it were skins which were no longer for sale? The potential security issue is a point I find interesting because its one i hadn't necessarily considered although I don't believe that riot is that altruistic.

There's also the fact that you don't own the account so you're selling something that isn't yours.

There's nothing* morally wrong about somebody else using your account if you no longer want it. However, Riot forbids the practice for several reasons

*Except for reason 3

  1. There are a substantial number of bots that ruin games (by being really bad) that are simply there to grind IP for an account to sell. If account selling were allowed, there would be more people running bots and ruining games for an account selling economy
  2. Some non-trivial percentage of "account sellers" are actually scammers, wherein you lose your money and the account you wished to buy. Obviously, if Riot created a legit marketplace for it (for example, the auction where the protagonist of The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor sells his high-level character), scams could be prevented, but Riot chooses to dedicate resources elsewhere.
  3. Riot owns the account (as Kaleb mentioned), so you would technically be selling someone else's property. Which I guess WOULD be morally wrong.
  4. Riot is a business, and businesses need to make money. They make money by selling optional content on the account, and considering that they provide the game for free, I think it is reasonable for Riot to want people to not share whatever ward or champion skins they have.

You do not own the account and therefore cannot give away it to someone or sell it to someone. It is not your property.

riot loses money, and you have a potential to be scammed. People do it still though don't get me wrong but if it is ever found out they usually perma-ban the account i think.

But... selling your account is for the money...

But seriously, that's a terrible reason, dude. Riot is a business. League is actually bonafide FREE to play! Can you imagine what would happen if we reduced their main source of income?

We don't have to pay a subscription.

Runes cannot be purchased with money.

Albeit with grinding, any champion can be bought with time.

The only thing in this game we HAVE to buy is skins (and some other goods), which are only cosmetic and hell Riot gives some for free anyway!

Let me put it this way: if we could sell our accounts, would you give yours to me for free? There ya go.

If you want to sell your account because you can't deal with change, why exactly do you care about the summoner's code? It's not like it affects you if you decide to drop the game.

Say you're selling off a Platinum Account to a guy who has never played Lol before.

I don't have to explain myself more on this. It's basic common sense.

Because of potential security issues on the part of the buyer, as well as the fact that you are reducing Riot's potential income ( you essentially trade an investment of of time, and possibly cash, for more cash).
