RIOT Supports Bigotry!

I was in a league match where we had a thrower, he joined late didn't call lane and we ended up with a duo top, I didn't mind much but the guy was a total jerk the entire time over the coarse of the game he did the following:

  • Multiple homophobic slurs
  • AFK in lane
  • Fed Top & Mid Lane
  • Trash talked the entire match
  • Used racially offensive words (the hard R)
  • Ran it down mid, quickly giving up on that

And we still won the game, I was relatively nice to the guy given he had been making fun of my sexuality for a couple messages. This guy was on a rant the entire match and was super annoying.

Back on the bigotry, He dropped both derogatory F bombs on me over a few minutes, my response was plain and simple

"Reported for hate speech" "Hate speech, reported" "reported"

Those where my responses.

I got muted for the match chat and when the "Request-A-Human" the response for why I was muted included the following:

[1:12] [All] W H l T E B O Y (Garen): reported [7:36] W H l T E B O Y (Garen): reported for hate speach [7:51] W H l T E B O Y (Garen): you're being a hater [9:20] [All] W H l T E B O Y (Garen): hate speech, reported

These logs were provided by the robot response & the RIOT Employee who can be quoted saying:

"Pretty much anything that negatively affects others or can negatively affect others is not okay."

So if someone calls me a "F*****" and a "F**" I can't respond with simply "Reported" because it might "negatively affect others"

I brought this up to the rito employee and their response included:

"I get that others are using hate speech and that is definitely not okay but that still doesn't make it okay to respond in this manner."

It's not okay to say "Reported for hate speech" when someone calls you a "f*****" or a "f**" ?

The interaction was as follows:

Meanie Butt: "You are a f**" Me: "Reported" Riot: "I get that others are using hate speech and that is definitely not okay but that still doesn't make it okay to respond in this manner" You have been muted for 25 games

How the hell did you come to this decision?

Your punishment was for you violating the rules and has nothing to do with what other players did. No, it is not okay to violate the rules just because someone else used hate speech.

Riot punishes all guilty sides. Them being racist and homophobic does not excuse you being an ass.

Dude, riot has been very clear in their terms of service that saying reported to someone in a match is a ban worthy offense. It sucks that someone was talking trash like that, but all you can do is report and hope the reports he gets add up and he gets a permaban. It's best to read the terms of service so you know what you can and cannot do.

Those chat logs are kinda light tbh. I jokingly type "reported" to my duo whenever they make a good play, but haven't gotten any sort of punishment yet, despite me flagging quite a few games. Did you perchance have previous chat logs that contributed to this?

so my advise is : 1 - take the penalty as it is, don't ask about it 2- as I said before, everything well is used against you, even thing that you don't know so don't tire your self about it 3- about the things you don't know about it don't ask about it 4- don't say any word that if you put it by itself on paper well appear as negative because you will judge by your word alone 5- Blitz bot always is right

PRO TIP: Disable Allied & All chat in the interface options menu to significantly improve your game experience!

Seriously. Don't use chat. It. Does. Not. Help. For anything at all. Sure maybe 1 in 200 games it helps. It's not worth it. Just disable it and live with it.

Well, you will get punished for everything what is not positive in chat or tactical. This was neither, you were punished. (The flamer got punished too very very likely)

On the other hand, what kind of word is this, where people are saying:

  • the "N-word"
  • the hard "R-word"
  • f* and f**

Is everyone really this snowflake that they can not even handle these words, like you know what they are, just words? You are all playing Harry Potter, where you are not allowed to say Voldemort cuz you will get told to shut your mouth :D It's a joke...….

You have to walk within the line Riot defines as acceptable, which arbitrarily changes on a case by case basis, or you get punished as though you actually did something worth punishing.

Unfortunately for us, the mob follows Riots holy dictates and you won't find many people to commiserate with here. Even when you have situations like this, where the only question left to ask is
