Champion select Bans

I just queued to join a ranked game and got mid lane, then the support goes like "wtf", you would think people would be familiar with autofill by know... anyways, he asks if he can mid , I tell him sorry and then he bans my champion, but thankfully someone dodged and thank god it was not a promo game .

I know this is not common, i mean its the first time i encountered it maybe due to low elo Bronze 1.

My proposed solution is when a teammate selects a champion it should refuse that champion from being banned by any teammate.

Thoughts? would this be an unnecessary restriction ? would there be complications?

I think the biggest issue with this is what if your teammates disagree with your hovering of a specific champion, either for reasons of team composition or pick order?

For example, you’re last pick and you’re hovering a tank support when two other people are hovering tanks already. Or you’re hovering yasuo as last pick. Those are both cases where someone may just ban the champion to avoid you being able to pick them, but not do it out of spite or anger.

Any system that is put in place to combat people banning your champ out of spite/anger will have the limitation of never knowing for sure why someone does it unless they say it in chat.

The thing is that it would cause more harm than good. Yes it does suck when you get your champion ban because someone doesnt like the champion, or not changing roles. But the best way to deal with that is to just not use the intended pick. That way your teammates wont know who you are going to play and thus not know who to ban to smite you.

Then of course there would be too much trolls (than there already are) who will pick someone knowing full well the enemy team is picking first and thus basically giving the enemy team a "good" champion!

If you could combat those two points im sure they could on a fix, but at least in my opinion those two are the most common problems we would have if something like this is implemented.

I always hover the champ I want to ban for exactly that reason
