Sexism and League

I know there are probably a lot of meninist type dudes out there. This isn't for you. Any other girls out there had guys act in a vulgar manner towards you? I've had the odd comment in game about being female- insults and the like, but just a few nights ago I had someone message me saying "i'll buy you ivern" (my status in game is 'someone please buy me ivern'). He had added me after a game and this was the second time he had messaged me, the first being "u wanna play". When I asked why he would do that he responded "lol il trade you you send nudes ill buy him 4u" It made me feel really uncomfortable and it's just not acceptable behaviour- I'm 22 but for all he knew I could have been 12. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

fetches popcorn

these "i'm a gamer gurl, play games, tee-hee, so abused by evil guys, notice me" types are kind of fun to read them sometimes

Instead of a post like this you should take screenshots of what he said and send them to Riot via a support ticket. People like that need to be removed from League, not talked about on the Boards.

people will always be sick, no matter the platform, i'm sorry someone had the indecency to even say that, its best to just avoid stating you're a girl, luckily most of the community would just spam "gril?", be sure to always report sick people like this, and best of luck to you on getting that Ivern :)

@Rando You're telling her it's her fault as much as it's the fault of the person who harassed her. It isn't her fault someone thinks asking for nudes in exchange for gifting her something in game is appropriate and it's not her job to hide her gender from people so they leave her alone. I've gotten in the habit of telling people off when they start this shit, but it's not my job to do that. I do it because it sometimes stops them from doing it later because they realize how shitty it makes someone feel, but I wouldn't expect everyone to be willing to do it.

It doesn't matter if someone flashes cash or has a fancy watch, the only person at fault for them getting mugged is the person who mugged them. Their decision may not have been a smart one, but they are not responsible for the choice another person made.

I'm sorry girls yell that kind of stuff at you, that's not okay and I don't know many people who would call that a joke (I certainly wouldn't). Personally, I've had men follow me for blocks before, asking me where I was going, making lewd comments, and calling me a bitch when I kept my eyes forward and didn't respond, until I turned around and threatened to call the police if they didn't leave me alone and stop following me.

I suppose the moral of the story is: people are shit.

How did he find out you're a girl? The only way for someone to find that out on the internet is for you to tell them. So it's partly your own fault if you did.

As long as you don't say your gender no one will harass you based on it. Until you say it they could think you are hamster on the internet.

Anyone posting a status asking for something, probably as a joke, isn't an invitation to harass them. Telling someone your gender is also not an invitation for harassment.

The only person to blame here is the person who decided harassing someone was an appropriate thing to do.

That is sleazy no doubt, but asking for handouts opened you up for that. Generally speaking, "someone please buy me Ivern" is something a girl using her gender would say, thus, opening the doorway for slimeball activity.
