28% rate of afk teammates, 35% rate this week

Edit: I should have said "28% of dc'd/afk teammates" as I accidentally lumped the two together

Also to mention, this entire article will exclude all remake games due to afks/DC's at the beginning of the game.

I've been playing this game for 7 years, ever since season 1... and I can say without a doubt... I have one of the worst luck when it comes to having AFK/DC'd teammates on my team. I literally compiled a list, last season, of 250 games and made notes on which one had afk/DC's on my team, vs afk/DC's on enemy team.

The rate came to 28%, which i know 250 games isn't a large enough sample size, but can tell from experience that the previous years were similar. Enemies had "noticeable" afk/dc rates of 11%.

In season 1, I would estimate the rate to be around 15%, where most of them were just rage quitters anyway. It then got progressively worse over the seasons. I made a post last season about this issue... and I'm making it again here.

There needs to be a hidden statistic among each player, that factors into the team selection of solo queue. Even out the afk/dc rates to each side, and it'll be more balanced in the long run.

Wow. You really DO have awful luck. I think I've had about 2 AFKs on my team this year. O_o

Maybe they can pair afkers with afkers? Sort of a prisoner's island for afks. Heh.

It probably means you tilt them in chat if you get them that often over a multitude of games. Either that or you're being a lying drama queen, because it's way too unlikely for you not to have an effect on this absurd statistic

@ Mushroom Midget In the 200 games this season, i've dc'd once for 3 mins. I definitely am very courteous in making sure I'm not afk/dc'd, because it is very poisonous to the game, and rude to teammates. So I seriously doubt I'm on afk/dc'd prisoner island.

@ KEI143 I am currently battling through gold 5.

@Hawckey And I don't ever put down teammates. They only time I every pipe up and say anything, is when I blame my luck for someone dc'ing, this is the ONLY thing that tilts me. You say this is an absurd statistic, makes me understand that I'm not overexaggerating

One thing to note, some players have come back from a disconnect, complaining about crashes/bugsplats they have suddenly started receiving. I don't know if this last patch has something to do with the increased amount of dc's.

Riot please get this fixed.... 5 out of my 8 games today have had player's on my team DC'd for an average of 8 mins.

Went through my games from this month and the number of AFKs in 154 matches is 203. This counts both my team and the enemy team. In one game alone there were 5 people that disconnected (in an ARAM). 154 matches x 9 players (excluding myself) is 1,386 players... this means that 14.6% of the players I encountered were AFK or DISCONNECTED.

The splits were relatively even ... of the 203 players that AFK/Disconnected, 104 were on my team and 99 on the enemy team. I consider anyone AFK who was absent from the game for more than 3 minutes.

This is my list of games I've played: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DXfqiP4cR_mF1ajdlmRmqMtyZLrE_lsGwCvvjO0uRp8/edit#gid=1180632855

Within 2 years, there's been hundreds of incidents.
