What the hell is going on with chat bans ?

I have enjoyed this game since its beta but now suddenly the report system is increasingly empowering not only the most ignorant players but those with the most Machiavellian tendencies.

Especially when stuck with the bronze side of the spectrum, players are expected to tolerate constant harassment from clueless idiots who are eager to report for any who defend themselves against harassment for being jungle or not immediately doing everything some laner demands or asserts.

Tribunal used to have someone see more complete contexts and thereby not screw people who either defend themselves or give shit back to people who are toxic and duplicitous individuals. Now, it seems, there is no nuance and all the little dunning krugers get to define culture and ethics by being shit people who dominate "reasonable communication" by hypocrisy and toxically applied double standards.

I don't harass people for being bad, but when little bastards irrationally and unjustly dog me or others for things that aren't rational I get punished because they abuse the terribly applied "laws" defending ethics. My last ban took place because my leona decided before the game started at level 1 that there was "no chance" we could win because of their understanding of the game. I gave them shit for giving up before the game started and carried the game, but now I get a 24 day ban, the previous bans have been for defending myself against immediate attacks for not appeasing irrational standards.

Even when all three lanes lose and they harass the jungle for not magically saving the whole game, it is the fault of whoever gets reported by the most inclined and usually guilty factions. This is a gross thing.

If you don't want people using profanity, apply a total profanity ban and make the filter mandatory. The enforcing system is notably worse now because you are disabling self-defense against weaponized collaborative ignorance. Also, make a list of the words and insults you will ban for so that people aren't screwed by this absurd method of "justice". After this being my favorite game since its beginning I am now thinking its time to leave it because just like so many other social functions it has been corrupted by lazy profit mechanisms that necessitate the undermining of ethics and rational functionality.

I don't want to report every prick I encounter in game, in fact, I very rarely report, but this sort of garbage system makes me either need to mute all due to bad systems or become that which undermines the game as a whole for self defense. It's odd how this is the first season since beta that I have encountered any bans or warnings, since beta, without changing my approach to bullies and assholes encountered in game. Now, I have to allow myself to be harassed and manipulated by disgusting people or turn off comms, because pointing out their hypocrisy or ignorance puts me in the crosshairs of a lazy and abused system.

Why not then give restrictions to those who give up in the first 5 minutes or less for absolutely stupid reasons, or can we report them for it? They constantly throw potentially good games based on some profound ignorance, but instead when that same twisted individual reports someone for pointing out their degree of irrationality or for not nurturing their ignorance, it is the side of reason that is undermined with greater leverage given to those who are quickest to abuse an abusable system.

Sure, I agree with one of those bans, though it was for getting sucked in by a depraved bastard, yet still I'm being punished for trying to defend rational perspectives and gameplay while being reported by those who have no shame or decency, but because they don't like taking what they so freely foist on everyone else.

I like the game, and the few good elements of the community and the great games that can come from them. This game has always had a larger portion of naturally occurring bad community habits but if you have a system that doesn't adapt to that inherent median you end up with an abused gameplay atmosphere because assholes are often smart enough to abuse the social restrictions to their abusive benefit.

Didn't your mom ever tell you, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"?

Turn off your comms if you want. If you keep being mean in chat, they're going to perma-ban your account. 14 day ban is your last warning.

In playing this game for many years, I have regularly been hijacked and harassed by either group queues or individuals who lie or try and dishonestly get myself or others reported for things they didn't do, or for standing up for themselves. It happens almost one in three games, it is extremely frequent. That is why it is so important to consider as a function of the game and its longevity.

I'm no angel, I accept one of the bans, but only after being suckered by someone who harassed me all game unfairly and maliciously, whom I didn't report.

I don't expect the system to suddenly be fixed, I'm just voicing my disgust that my favorite game and one of my favorite companies is giving in to the worst aspects of the community for the wrong reasons when most often those who report are the ones who provoked in the first place, or against those who are defending themselves against harassment, which is different from teasing for new players spewing bullshit.
