Playing support is an eye-opening experience

I've been playing the game for a long time and the amount of unchecked toxicity is only increasing.

I play supports specifically, and it's a role I've always enjoyed because it's all about making the field for you and your teammates advantageous and I see it as a chance to also increase morale, if possible. I've seen people getting cut down for plays out of their control, being told I'm not warding enough (of the last 30 games tracked I have a wardscore of 91% MORE than recorded players), have been told to go ward by people with ward scores of 13 at 30 minutes who have 2 trinkets available for warding. It's not uncommon to get backseat drivers, either. People who don't realize a janna shield lvl 1 is nearly 17 seconds of cooldown and demand it when they dive after being initiated on. These are all minor situations though, but these get people summoner 14 . The prelude to the true flame war.

Support is perhaps a niche role that requires a lot of attention to map and eventually if you can't persuade tilted teammates that everything is alright, you can only look at the map as you slowly watch all your turrets and objectives being slowly consumed. The toxicity as a support is draining, win or lose. Looking upon a map that no longer matters, because nothing matters to those you need most, your carries, who are tilted. I just got out of a match where I reported the nasus for a plethora of insults toward my adc and the rest of us. His toxicity when unchecked because he carried us through the game.

Toxicity is permissible _if _ you're skilled enough to back it up. BM'ing is permissible if you do better than those you BM.

It's fine to call opponents anything you want, as long as you do well, you'll never get reported for it. If you play badly though, and you insult people, you still have a chance of not getting reported, because many people on here believe the report system isn't effective. It's a be good or don't play, game. I have been playing since season 1 and none of my friends play anymore, except me and they tell me; "You must like the abuse". For me, I see potential for improvement in the toxicity, but it needs to start at the core of this game, not just the player base.

I'm here to suggest we bring back the tribunal, but an improved version. One that can be accessed during the loading screen that puts people in check. for example; > You're such a ****ing loser Is this a bannable quote? y/n

the quote being an actual quote from a player to another, and therefore judgment may be passed from it. It's an idea, and by no means hashed out. But I leave this up to the community, truly. What do YOU think needs to be done to right the wrongs of these hidden rules and the antics it has promoted thus far? What would you do to improve a community that has a renown for people who "must like the abuse". As a support, as a person who loves to play this game, I wish my friends where I live could rekindle their love they once had for this game, but it's not just them, it's many others.

The system punishes consistant behavioral problems and doesn't care whether someone carried, whether they are pro, whether they are a popular streamer. They are faced against the codes of conduct.

Where the system fails is people "feel" that their reports don't do anything, as there isn't enough clarity on the system. It does all the work an no one ever sees it. It's kind of like how the good supports are, quietly doing stuff, zoning people and body blocking skill shots with good positioning and no one notices it, so no credit is give.

I'd love to see the Tribunal back. It was effective.

I have the utmost respect for my supports, without them most teams would fall apart. I really wish others had the same appreication for the role and those who main it.

With love, a happy little ADC main.
