How accurate is the reporting system?

League of Legends will lock toxic players out of its new crafting and loot system

If anyone/everyone can honor/report anyone else, who's to say that information is accurate? If the "guy" having a bad day reports everyone after every game simply because he can and he's mad, and there so happens to be multiples of that "guy" reporting everyone, innocent people would receive warning boxes while they're queued up for another match. This could happen especially to someone who attempted to stick up for another person. I would hope this would be something Riot has thought of, considering I hear tales of new ways to punish toxicity. Or rather to exclude the people who exhibit "toxic behavior" from bonuses. See the attached links for the aforementioned story.

Riot have stated that the warnings are separate from punishment. The warnings are simply a message to tell the player that they have received a spike in reports but does not in itself have any other consequences. Riot's systems will scan any reported players/games for toxic chat, feeding, trolling etc and issue a ban or restriction if the report turns out to be true.

So, if PlayerWithABadDay reports you and you didn't do anything wrong you might get a warning but no punishment.

It also matters by who is reporting too, if JoeShmoe that is tilting is reporting everyone in every single game, he will quickly find his report weight will become 0 very quickly, or even get punished himself, most companies usually punish people if they abuse something too much, moreso if it can actually harm other players.

Likewise someone that barely reports or each of their reports has been accurate will find they have very heavy weight to them. I have had weeks where I wouldn't say a word in game since its usually safer that way and the one game I do get a little overboard, see myself getting a warning for it, this is most likely due to heavy weight reports.

All in all I wouldn't worry about anyone that does that, their vote power is most likely none already and if you don't get reported too much(IE get the warning too often) you won't get reviewed so you can't be punished.

The punishment system has a very low rate of false positives. The last I heard was 1/6000 punishments (of which the vast majority are chat restrictions) are undeserved.

So a quick calculation. The statistic from just over a year ago was that 5% of players were considered toxic. 27 million average daily players. That means 1.35 million toxic people. Assuming all of them get punished, that leaves 225 false positives overall. These are going to be chat restrictions given that Riot has certain levels of punishment.

I'm willing to take that. You have basically nothing to worry about.

This is 225 false punishments. These have nothing to do with the warnings. They is automatic. It just lets you know that you have been reported a lot recently. All reports are verified by Riot's system, so false report do not count towards punishment. Everybody is fine if they aren't toxic.

A warning is just a warning...but think of getting reported like earning a snowflake.

you earn enough snowflakes and it becomes a snowball. Riot then comes by to see why this little snowflake became a snowball and notices the reasons why it got big.

That's when they move punishments up a notch in hopes you reform and become a valued member of the community.

when you get enough reports for being an honorable and decent member of the community, you get rewarded for that.

when you're exceedingly bad or awesome you'll get appropriately rewarded for that.

How are you guys seemingly so knowledgeable about something Riot isn't transparent about? Riot doesn't reveal this information to players. Admit you don't know and move on.

If only I had the option to block you, kiddo. Last response. Find someone to harass, sir or madam.
