Instigator vs. Sedulous
To whom it may concern:
I'm not someone who's ever posted on (or even viewed) the boards, with the exception of updates posted in the launch hub for League of Legends. My point being, I'm not entirely sure if I'm in the right area so please forgive me if I'm dwindling in the wrong corridor.
Being someone who has struggled immensely in the past with failing to properly cope or handle negative comments, I don't feel like I have an entire arm to dip into this subject matter; however, with my primary account being banned just over a month ago (one that had both time and an embarrassing amount of money dumped into) I feel like my time away has provided me at the very minimum, a hands worth of insight and right of inquiry.
Why is it that we so often are encouraged not only by our teammates, but by RIOT's tool-tip to utilize the mute function if teammates are being disrespectful? Yet, on another note, there's a tool-tip worded something to the effect of, "The mute button doesn't provide a right for you to be toxic." Okay, so, mute people who are rude but don't be rude just because there is a mute button. Unfortunately, it's the internet, and people are going to be rude, but as a strategist who would prefer to have full communication with all party members at all times (should any said troll provide any insightful notions at any given time) I'd like access to those.
There's too many backward report options for trolls and people who are just downright rude.
_I.E. I've been reported by people whom I've muted for, "failing to communicate with the team." Well, of course I can't communicate with you, you were being rude and I muted you. (Happens often in 4 man pre-mades where I'm the soloist)
I.E. I've been reported for not muting anyone but instead for giving notable advice and the end-user takes that as a personal attack on their level of skill or whatever it may be.
I.E. I've been reported for having to D/C and R/C multiple times over the course of a game (and even RIOT itself issues a scripted warning if you leave a game for any reason)_
I am sorry, but we do not live in a perfect world. We can not all function with perfect internet or perfect language or.. well, perfect anything really. I've had some time to reflect on the permanent ban on my account. When I read what happened, I didn't even scream. I didn't throw anything. I wasn't mad. Above any of that, I was just confused.
Granted, a lot of things have happened prior which I will admit were worthy reports. (As aforementioned, I have been working on my attitude) However, this, "self-improvement" started before the final ban issue.
A three or four man pre-made harassing me over the course of a game due to internet issues (due to a storm in the area) and they report me post game and in less time than I could start a new game I was permanently banned? Is there a formula concocted at RIOT that after so many reports and so many bans if some troll in the tribunal says yes then you're just down and out and that's that? I'm sorry but I feel a PERMANENT BAN is worthy of the eyes of a real worker. (Especially when I get some cheap, obviously automated message informing me of the mishap)
Why were these four individuals allowed to berate and insult not only me, but my family (granted, it's the internet, I don't care, it's just the point I'm making) but because FOUR people voted on a report towards me and I reported all four of them (note: four, single count reports are worth less than a single, quadra-count report) I now suffer a permanent ban because I opted to not mute anyone, but instead stand my ground, defend myself, and realistically, nothing overly harsh (or worse than what was slung at me) was said. It just seems that no matter what, the trolls always win.
(See I.E. (1) In context, had I muted these individuals or not, I was being reported for the consistent D/C | R/C because ONE of the four friends felt I was doing it intentionally to cause a loss in ranked. Being banned because four presumptuous children got a little upset over a local storm? Really harsh, completely uncalled for, and frankly, I feel it's disrespectful to me as an individual. I feel no self-entitlement for my contributions of time or money to your company. I only feel entitled to fair treatment as a human being)
I'm not here to beg for my account back. I don't need a refund on the thousands of dollars I spent. I know what the Summoners Code is. I get it.
I just want answers.
