I'd like my money back, please

So I got permabanned today. After playing this game and funneling money into the powerhouse that is Riot Games.

And I've got to say, this system is broken. And it is not examined by a "real Riot employee". They use an algorithm that looks for "red flag words" out of context (in some cases, though not all) and then issues the ban. I will say, I am easily tiltable by players who flame me and call me "trash" or say "this is why you're in elo hell", "just uninstall the game". Or team up against me in chat for a report because I didn't play the game to their standards. Not because I trolled, but because I lose lane.

There is NO punishment system put in place for those bullies, but when someone speaks out against them; tries to defend themselves as a competitive player, they are the ones who get the banhammer.

Which is fine! If that's the method Riot wants to take in handling their community, that's their business. The game is owned by them so it is by no means a "democracy" how things are handled.

But if you're going to permanently ban me from the game on an account that has been active for over seven years, I would politely like to ask for a refund. Even if it is partial. Since I know money is very important and probably wouldn't happen, how's about you reform your "permanent ban" system?

Why not just permanently mute players? Pings are good enough for communicating. Other games have this system. I am not a toxic/horrible person. In games where people are not attacking my character, I try to foster kindness in players -- especially beginners, who need help with their champion or macro play. Where my teammates attack them for being bad players, I try to give them tips on what could have been done better. And their reform system is patchwork, at best. There is no one there to tell you when you are a model player, but the blade is quick to cut for those who step out of line.

There goes seven years of my life. 4 seasons of progress. Watching myself climb out of bronze gave me hope when I was having loss streaks. My collection of masteries and skins and champions. Gone. They expect me to disappear as well, while they reap the benefits of the money I gave them.

I know the white knights will come. And the trolls. Defending Riot; condemning me. sigh

It was a good run. I will miss the friends I've made and the fun I've had.

Rest In Peace Aznsiegler, may you be reborn in non-toxic, salt-less Elysian fields.

That's not how a policy refund works, you beautiful creature.

You don't get to claim for a refund after you were kicked out for not following the rules, a ToS that yourself agreed upon making an account, just because you didn't fullfill your end of the bargain it doesn't give you the right to demand your money back now that you got the boot.

But hey, keep asking for a refund, who am I to stop you?

Why not just permanently mute players?

They tried it, it didn't work. It made people resort to gameplay-disrupting ways of expressing their frustration. In other words: People who are permanently muted before learning their lesson tend to just end up feeding, trolling and afking.

I crashed my car into a police station and got my driver's license taken away.

That fucking dealership better refund me for all that money I spent on my car.

OK hold on I got this ready for pasting.

  1. You chose to give the money
  2. mute them
  3. Riot looked into perma muting people, doesn't work. They just troll in other ways.
  4. chat logs?

I mean, you're at fault right? Mute the players and move on. You can't change how others react, but you can change how you react.

2.2. What happens if my account is terminated? (No LoL for you.) If your account is terminated, you’ll no longer have access to it, including any of the associated data or content (e.g., champions, skins, Riot Points, etc.). You’ll not be entitled to any refunds and we’ll have no liability to you. We also reserve the right to terminate any other accounts you may have created (also without any refunds or liability to you). You understand and agree that using the Riot Services comes with the risk that your account may be terminated or suspended and that, whenever you use the Riot Services, you’ll bear this risk in mind and always conduct yourself appropriately.

for asking money back

Second how i deal with tilt is say what i want to say ingame, out of game. so i do not type it i just speak it, that way you make it so you can not be banned, never talk back to a person who is being toxic to you, mute them, i know muting is hard, because you want to know what they are going to say to you but just do it, make it so you are not at any risk of losing your account, after muting them report them after game, riot will look at it and issue a punishment if need be.

sorry your account got banned after you have played so long in the game and put so much money into the game. but as the points i have put up there you are not entitled to your money back and there are a lot of ways to not tilt yourself in game or to deal with your tilt

The same automated system that punished you is ready and waiting for your reports on those who antagonize you. You know that it punishes. Use that knowledge to report those who do punishable things, instead of doing punishable things yourself.

You shouldn't have spent any money on the game if you knew you would feel that way when you got banned. Better luck next time matey.

Anastaecia9/27/2017, 6:34:25 PM2 votes

Why does everyone think that "speaking up for one's self" has to contain toxicity. You don't get banned for speaking up for yourself. You only get banned for the language you choose to use.

SciFi Scrivener9/27/2017, 6:38:09 PM2 votes

Tens of millions of people play LoL without ever getting a ban. You might want to actually read your chat logs and be honest with yourself.

Also, if you report the players flaming you in the first place, they do get banned. This has been addressed before. You don't get notified when they are banned, but the system does work.

Not gonna post the chat logs?

Verbally Abusing9/27/2017, 7:13:13 PM1 votes

I've spent a lot of money in the game as well even if it is a free to play game. My mistake was getting banned for verbal abuse. You probably will not be getting your money back if you broke the terms of use.

Riot is a multibillion dollar company.

They didn't get that way by giving refunds. They got that way by milking any cent they could, for what is arguably a low effort product.

PresBushDid7119/27/2017, 6:53:53 PM1 votes

There are real people here, but you haven't posted logs so we can't decide if it was just or not.

I don't think you are really looking for "real" feedback.

Ýones9/27/2017, 9:32:33 PM1 votes

The same rules apply even if you spent a billion dollars into league.

Blutseuche9/29/2017, 4:46:02 PM1 votes

I dont care how many shiny skins you have, if you behave like an asshole in my games im going to report you and wish you get either banned or reformed.

TëddyBéaR5/17/2018, 2:11:26 PM1 votes

Dude, I would like to ask you if you get a refund for your money, Thank you in advance

5eapea2/22/2019, 7:47:39 AM1 votes

This STILL HOLDS TRUE. Another account in and seeing a chat restriction after spending some money on stuff, I KNOW I SHOULDN'T have. They really have it 100 percent backwards. I want to speak to a riot employee and I want some answers, like everyone else here.
