Punished for technical problem

I was playing a ranked game a bit ago and suddenly had "attempting to reconnect" pop up on my screen. I waited, but after a while and nothing changing I disconnected from the game and tried to reconnect from the client. Nothing. So I took it a step further and quit the client (on a mac) and tried reopening it to see if that worked. Problem is, the launcher wouldn't even open. After a couple tries I finally gave in and reset my computer. Now the launcher finally opened and I was able to reconnect to my game, of which I played the remainder without any difficulty.

When the game was over, I was notified that because of my disconnecting and AFK behavior I have been placed in a lower priority queue for 5 matchmade games. I have never had disciplinary action taken against me and do not feel I deserve to be punished for a fluke in my system. Is there a way to have this appealed?

Unfortunately for you, it's highly unlikely that you iwll get this lifted. The Leaverbuster is an automated system and it has built in leniency to take into account technical problems/real life emergencies, so you weren't punished for this instance alone. You must have been leaving/disconnecting from multiple other matches semi-recently if you were punished, keeping in mind that if you disconnect for an extended period of time, even if you come back you will still be flagged by Leaverbuster.
