Chat vs Ban System

Hi everyone,

I, along with a lot of other players, have played the game for a long time. Myself, I've been here since season 1. There's been a lot of changes to the game, but it's usually been minor changes we quickly adapt to. And it's been very interesting changes, which is very positive to keep the game fresh! But there are 2 things that are currently ruining the game, and I wanna air my thoughts on this here. The first thing should probably be in a separate thread in another forum, but I'm lazy so I'm just putting it in short here.

Ok, so to keep it short; Stop reworking champions! It kills the nostalgia, which in return kills the desire to play the game. If you want a new champ, just make a new champ! It's that simple.

secondly I wanna talk about the current ban system. I've never received a ban myself, but I have friends who have exclusively duo'd with me, who are no worse than me in chat. They get banned. I don't. Before you could banter in chat. You could say "you suck" without being afraid you'd lose your account over it. Now you're better off not saying anything at all during a game in case it offends some random sensitive soul. Hell, You might get banned for actually giving people advice, cus they take it negatively or English isn't your first language so you can't put your thoughts in words in a polite way. If someone is abusive in chat, shouldn't the answer be to just take their chat privileges away, instead of permanently banning their account?

Anyway, these are my view on the current state of the game and Riot's policies, and I fear the current policies is turning players away from the game we all used to love. Unfortunatey the nostalgia still lives in me, but only as a distant memory. I don't enjoy the game the same way anymore, cus all the champs I used to play have been reworked. I don't enjoy it cus I can't banter in chat. I don't enjoy anything anymore, it's just something I play to kill time. Riot, you are not supposed to baby the community. People gotta learn to handle themselves in situations where someone tells them they suck when they actually suck. You don't need to act as their parents. Cus guess what, when these kids get out in real life, with real jobs and real people, they're gonna have to do their job, or lose it. You're teaching the kids who play the game that when someone talks the truth to them, no matter how unproductive it is, all they have to do is go to mommy (riot) and they'll get the other person punished, while they get to keep not doing their job.

Think about it. Please.

They rework champions because their old kits either didn’t function and or don’t work in the constantly evolving game. Old Aatrox, Poppy, Sion, Urgot, Nunu, Warwick each had massively glaring flaws that stopped them from being anything from niche OTP picks.

Old Aatrox spent three years through constant buffs remaining shit tier.

Poppy was bar none the most feast or famine champion in the game with a horribly designed ultimate.

Sion has two useless abilities depending on if you want AP or AD.

Urgot was Urgot.

Nunu was a meme

And Warwick wasn’t even a champion and couldn’t even gank until level 6.

Onto the second point, no, you don’t get banned for giving advice that doesn’t happen.

Stop flaming people period, banter is fine but when you go above and beyond the call of duty to simply bash your ally in and attempt to sabotage them and make them feel horrible, that isn’t people being too sentsitive, that is you just being an asshole.

Theres a major difference in intent between telling people that they suck in a banter manner and telling people they suck so you can harass them.

The tone of voice is different and people can still read through it, even though it's just text.

Ugh this again. No. Riot will never do it. As in ever. Period.

Riot needs to keep the champion pool updated so they can't be abused and want them to fit the current status of the game.

Now for the being an asshole part. Don't be an immature brat and you won't be treated like one. To be shown discipline, much like a parent would do to their child, if you misbehave you'll have your toys taken away. Now, you came to this game, regardless if you read it or not, you came here on agreed terms. So if you disregard those terms, you'll get a couple slap on the wrist. Do it consistently, you'll lose your access to their service.

So don't be an ass.

If you want to discuss the chat your friends got banned for, post those chatlogs.

People often describe them as "not bad" and when they finally post them, they are full of insults etc. Your interpretaton of them is not a valid base for a discussion. Especially when you claim complete and utter bs like "Now you're better off not saying anything at all during a game in case it offends some random sensitive soul."
