Honoring the best player? Not the mediocre.

I was thinking... I carried my team to victory, had a very posstive attitude, made jokes with the enemy team (because the Darius on their team was very funny :D) and in the darkest time i refused to surrender and give in... (I played master yi btw) And we won! But I thought that I would be the most honored on the team because I was 20/10 or smth... But the most honored was the Aatrox that was 1/7.. I was a bit disappointed because I worked hard to carry them! And I am on my 3th checkpoint before reaching rank 3 on my honor! I was on the 3th for quite some time now and I keep getting a honor or 2 on the end of some games, so.

My idea is, there should be a recommended icon or something like that above the player that did GOOD or had the best score, something like the "overwatch" play of the game?

Any thoughts?

Expecting Honor is Dishonorable.

I personally value leadership and teamwork over performance though in many cases its the same person.

I'm not a strong player and I know it, so any HELPFUL suggestions will get my vote. Compliments go far as well.. i don't need them, but a "nice ult" even if it was my only good play of the game is a good feeling. I try to do the same for others.

Leadership to me is taking charge in a way that people want to follow... not demanding it. My last game had someone ping dragon then say "ashe clear bottom to catch up and meet us." I knew i was behind and he acknowledged that without insulting and made a good suggestion.

I will not honor people who are overly critical even if they go 20/10....especially if they are calling out individuals. I know I'm bad and telling me a dozen times won't help and I don't need to know who on our team is screwing up.

Honors are supposed to be for showing good sportsmanship and not for gameplay.

Having the end screen remind people of the good score defeats that purpose.

Uhh, you're asking for the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the honor system should be used for. Just because you play well doesn't mean you deserve honor over someone who (in this case) was tilt-proof. If your team doesn't think you were more honorable in this situation (because too many times the 'carry' player is honored) then I think you're speaking too highly of yourself.

For starters, you were Master Yi. Most people think Yi is brain dead, takes no skill to get kills, OP, and super easy to use. So even if you did do your best and carry with him, people are desensitized to Yi's carrying games and getting a lot of kills, because it's perceived to happen a lot (and it generally does with how strong he is at the moment). He's a lot like Yasuo in that people don't particularly like or care about him even if he does well, just because of his terrible reputation.

Furthermore, some people see refusing to surrender as an extreme irritation, especially if the game overall is going badly. So sure, you may have turned the game around and pulled out a win, but if your team was getting utterly stomped until the last minute, I can almost guarantee that people were hating you for not surrendering, if they knew it was you denying the surrender.

Additionally, some people don't care about jokes, and may not get your humor. Plus, if you're not joking with your team or making them laugh, and only making the enemy Darius laugh, most people won't honor you for that.

Overall, you had a few factors working against you that could deter people from honoring you, the number one being the fact that you were Master Yi.

But then all we'll get is a short clip of heimer's turrets getting kills while he's dead.

Hmm difference is while in many games getting a high kill count is a direct indicator of playing well, in league you can have a good kda but not actually be doing what's best for your team (not saying that's what happened in your game) - if we lose a game because one of our players refused to help the team and just ran around padding their kda and cleaning up after teamfights I'd be pretty annoyed to then see them have the "best player" symbol beside their name in post-game lobby (and they'd probably use it as justification for their play).

While it's great that you were positive and worked hard to carry your team, people shouldn't feel obligated to honour the best player over someone they might have felt was either a better leader or less tilting or more fun to be with - winning and moving up in rank is already the reward for being a good player.

It's great that you bounced things back, and all that, but the rest of your team clearly decided to honor the underdog of their team. There's nothing you can do to control who all people honor, and this just goes to show you that the "honors go to the carry" mentality doesn't universally apply.

My idea is, there should be a recommended icon or something like that above the player that did GOOD or had the best score...

No. The Honor System is meant for players to honor who they felt deserved it - whether for leadership, staying cool under pressure, or having an overall good match. It's not there for people to pad their KDA or get bonus points for carrying.

Beyond that, the whole idea of the Honor System was to make it feel impactful as to who you Honor - make you feel like you have a choice. Having a big ol' indicator over someone's head that said "THIS GUY CARRIED YOUR ASS" (roughly - 'course it wouldn't say that in actuality) would make the decision feel forced and inorganic.

You want Honors? Prove to people that you're worth them. Keep a level head when you're playing from behind, take initiative and work with your team strategically, play well with your team. Don't just expect that bouncing back, winning the game, and getting a high KDA is gonna suffice.
