Why play this game if you don't want to work with your team?

Seriously, this question has been going through my head every game since I lost my match 2-4-1 with Ekko 3 days ago. I was probably 100% or close to every kill on our team. If someone hates playing with others that much, why are they playing this game?

My past 10 games or so have been miserable. I've lost almost all of them (won 2, maybe not all) but it just feels like shit. Here I am, getting blamed constantly by my teammates when I'm literally getting squaded by the other team and they're laning against minions. Level one three man ganked, camped (ganked SIX times straight in the match where I went 0/8/1 on Xerath), had to lane against 5 players in one game (they abandoned their lanes before any towers went down and all stayed mid), and focused in nearly every single game. Trust me, I'm not saying this to brag either. I HATE relying on my team to carry but what am I supposed to do? And yet here we are. Game after game enemies are focusing me down and my team simply won't contribute or help.

I ask myself, how do I improve? Sure I can subconsciously pretend I'm some god who can outplay everyone but that's not reality. I play as safe as possible, but that's not enough. To win it takes snowballing and gold. It's hard to even step up to farm when I have to fear that there could be 3 players in a side lane bush waiting to jump on me, which I can't even ward because trinket is on cooldown. I'm sure I'm not the only player that this happens too, so I won't act like it's some special case, but really what are you supposed to do?

This is a huge part of why I'm so massively opposed to Riot creating champions like Galio. Champions where you cannot even use part of your kit if you don't have a teammate around are just not good. "It's a team game, it's a team game, get over it blah blah blah".... I don't even want to hear it. Hundreds of thousands of players don't want to play or work with anyone. It's a fact. Being a team game isn't stopping these people from playing.

But this leads more or less to the title, why are YOU (players who refuse to help their team) playing this game? What is motivating you?

I can't point fingers obviously, but I'll just throw some examples:

  • Mid laners who stay in lane all game.
  • Ignoring your Jungle when he comes to gank.
  • Junglers who refuse to gank, even after being asked.
  • Not helping Junglers who are getting invaded.
  • Refusing to help your teammate who is pinging objectives (Towers, Baron, Dragon, etc).
  • Refusing to go in, or help in fights when you are in position to.

What are your reasons?

Perhaps there aren't enough players that read these boards to where I'll get any good answer, but this to me is what makes League of Legends a frustrating game. Part of it may be the balance (being adjusted to require team work), but the other 90% is the players. That's right US, ALL OF US. We are each and every one of us, what makes this game miserable for many players.

Anyways, the next time YOU are in a situation where your teammate needs your help. I encourage you to help them. Sure maybe it's not the right choice. Maybe you'll both die, maybe your whole team is going to die! At the end of the day however, you and your whole team are going to feel much better and synergize a lot more because everyone left it all on the table and did what they could. That's FAR better than leaving the rest of your team thinking "maybe he could have been there".

Be a team player, because then you're a real hero. Not to mention you'll look a lot cooler and everyone will love you.

I tilt off people who refuse to communicate and work with anyone. The minute I am asking for help or pinging and people just ignore me completely and go on about farming or playing pve I just get upset. Then I'll continue to ask when applicable till I snap or something, just aggravates me. What's worse is if they refuse to even say anything at all.

To answer your question as to why i might not help my team members.

Because if my teammate makes a shit call im not going to follow through with it and have us BOTH be behind. My favorite example of this is any jungler that thinks its a good idea to fight over scuttle/invade when a massive wave is pushing onto my tower.

I'm NOT roaming and losing 200G on the CHANCE we get the kill. Because if the enemy team ends up either A) getting away or B) getting the objective anyway. Im now at 10-12 cs down all because you wanted to pick a fight. God forbide if we both die because that shit basically ends my lane if i don't have teleport up in top lane.

I will follow up to help if i have priority or if i think my roam will actually help but the safest play to make when someone is roaming/ganking is to back off and have the enemy laner clear the wave to get a CS lead or possibly even a tower.

For me personally getting constantly ganked is acceptable if my team uses the chance to get other shit around the map.

actualy it's that we don't want to play with other people... it's that we can be as good as we want if we have brainless allies we can't do nothing. the problem is that in league of legends, you never have good allies: one time you have an afk, another time an open mid, then next game no junglers. like right now: i played a urgot top game against a nasus, we had a afk farm twitch jungle, a afk lux mid a targon janna and a caitlyn ap ... so i can be as good as i am, i can't win any game if i don't have a real team...
