some people say its a positive thing its a 200 iq thing others say its negative saying as a insult. my question is... IS it 100% negative no matter how you say it. or is it used like poor social skills but high IQ meaning? give me the definition of how online players use it positively and/or negatively?

The only times I’ve ever seen it used positively are when it’s being used by an autistic person if Im being honest. I’m autistic and my friend group (also autistic) use it to describe things as relatable, calming, good, etc. when we ask if a streamer is autistic, it’s done in an excited, hopeful manner (because hey they’re like us so relatable).

When non autistic people ask if someone is autistic, it’s at best neutral (genuine curiosity with no ill intent). But it’s usually meant as an insult with them defining it as stupid. Which is wrong and hurtful but unfortunately how much of the world views us. Preferable to the r one tho.

A social worker who helps disadvantaged families find therapy and other resources for their kids with poor social skills might positively say, "I work with autistic children." A social worker who has had enough of their coworkers playing stupid pranks all the time might negatively say, "I work with autistic children."

someone clearly hasn´t seen the new Predator film, otherwise, you would know that autism is the next step in human evolution. How could that be seen as an insult?

jokes aside:

in an ideal world, it would depend on the context, but currently, when people get offended over everything and focus more on what words were used than what was meant, you are better off staying away from words like that. And don´t forget that making jokes is not an excuse since you are only allowed to make jokes about non-controversial things because that´s how comedy apparently works.

And afaik there are autists on the entire IQ spectrum.

In context when used describing another person, it's usually pretty clearly an insult.

In fact, I can't remember once I've seen it used to positively describe another person in an online forum.

As someone on the autism spectrum, I personally find it kind of funny when it's used as an insult, because the word they're usually (though not always) looking for begins with an R.

As an inherently social creature, an affliction inhibiting social expertise will always be viewed as a negative

I use it to describe a medically diagnosed condition. Neutral is how I use the word. The topic rarely comes up.

I use it to describe a 0/3 jungler who flame me and tax my lane

I think that calling someone "autistic" is practically always an insult (See MegaLoBunny's comment below - that is the only time I have seen anyone to consider it can be used in positive way. Neutral way to use it is in medicine.) If you wish to call someone/thing smart, say he is smart. That is also shorter to type and thus faster to type during a heated match. It is also less often misunderstood - but anything can be misunderstood due to too much sarcasm in the air.
