Punishment guidelines

Punishments are done in a 4-step escalating system;

-10 game chat restriction -25 game chat restriction -14 day account ban -Permanent account ban

  • Read this just now, and I don't think that's entirely true? I got the 14 day account ban about 2 weeks agyo - not saying it wasn't right to give me it, but it states it goes from 10 to 25 game restriction. all I got were a couple of 10 game chat restrictions before the ban. Not saying I shouldn't get banned or anything, just asking to clarify for other players and myself so we know why and how.

It states that it normally does that.

I believe later in the section of the rules it mentions that certain behavior can escalate your punishment to the point where it skips one or more of those levels. So it's a bit less strict in its exact implementation than the segment quoted appears.

There have been tons of analogies on the forum explaining why people don't understand why some tiers are skipped.

Punishments are considered with how bad the offense is and also how frequently you are an offender. So, if you skip up in levels of severity in your offense then you be proportionately upped in your punishment.

This is a made up example because I don't know exactly how they do this but it seems to make sense

  • Offense level 1 in a single game = Punishment level 1
  • Offense level 1 in multiple games = Punishment level 2
  • Offense level 2 in a game = Punishment level 2
  • Offense level 2 in multiple games = Punishment level 3
  • Offense level 3 in a game = Punishment level 3
  • Repeated Offenses (despite several punishments and no sign of reform) = Perma ban
  • Perma ban level Offense in a game = Perma ban

Punishments can always skip tiers and be escalated depending on the severity (i.e. racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. will generally always be punished more harshly than general flaming). If you've got a history of being banned before, it's very likely that they would issue a more severe punishment if there is no reformation.

That being said, you'll want to post the chat logs here if you're looking for any assistance from the community. Without them it's difficult for anyone to weigh judgment on your actions and help you with ideas for the future.

The system gives and the system takes.

I highly doubt Riot intended to make penalties predictable. Some people are banned after 1 game & others plays for years before receiving their ban.

The chat restrictions are basicly' warnings,** not penalties!** These couple of 10 games restrictions you mentioned was a sign that the system was getting sick of you, but it might've been so that you wasn't 'offensive enough' to get a penalty.

Most players aren't lucky enough to even receive a warning before being temp. banned. so consider yourself being "unecessary lucky" with your warnings.

I would highly recommend you to rethink your actions during your temp ban. Having such on a players record would be terrifying for most of us. If there's a next time (which it won't because im sure you're willing to reform, right?) you'll might have to wave goodbye too what might've been a beloved account.

Tiers can be skipped.

People can reform and drop tiers.

Those are just the tiers of punishment.

People who are only mildly toxic intermittently could get several tier 1-2 punishments over a long period of time.
