Why is smurfing allowed

I PREF JGL - Summoner Stats - League of Legends

I just played a game of league with this guy in the enemy team, not only does his stats clearly show that he was smurfing he also blatently stated that he is smurfing. In the end the game was no fun since it was a stomp and we basically wasted 20 min of our time (mabye even more if you count the loss of LP).

How is it that one guy who needs to boost his ego can ruin a game for atleast 5 guys and mabye even his own team. Especially in a game like league where you cant just leave the game without being penitalised.

Do you guys think Riot should change their stance on smurfing and atleast should let it be known that smurfing is not allowed as it seems like it is now as it seems to be ignored

In an ideal world, we'd each be limited to a single account. However, there's no realistic way to enforce this currently.

Since it's impossible to enforce, it's simply not feasible to penalize smurfing. Now, if they're tanking their MMR to fight lower-ranked players, that's another matter.

Then they should start banning the youtubers and the streamers cause at some point they had low elo account in the same server before they rise them to diamond or high plat.Some of them did video saying wow ap shivana is so busted and similar videos and the game was versus gold players while the youtuber streamer is diamond/master/challenger. Thats smurffing too, but riot wont try to piss off that many people cause he will lose reputation and lose more players. Smurfing IS UNFUN, UNFAIR and UNHEALTHY but the only hope is we are lucky that we wont match up against a smurf account of the top 10% players in each server. I did have some games where diamond was smurfing and stop us as a renekton/pantheon/zed/vayne/riven but i have accept it that riot wont change anything so i blame my bad luck for it and move on the next game.

Smurfing is allowed because they allow it. Smurfing should be allowed and everyone should have a smurf account, including you! Smurfing allows thinking outside of the confines of specific skill levels, which is why you should have one.

The thing is how exactly could you police something like this? Anyone can make any number of accounts. Only in places like Korean where in order to make an account you need your Social Security number (or something equivalent to that) could something like that be regulated. But there would need to be some system in place to detect who this account belongs to. And with the current number of accounts this game has would be impossible.

Let alone like others have said, you are basically asking to ban a bunch of people (streamers/content creators) since most if not all have at some point make new accounts to test things out/make videos for like those "Bronze to Gold" types of videos. I do agree it is a problem, but its something that should have been dealt with when the game first started!

yeah its very bad for the game. I don't know why they don't just detect these accounts and jump them to the proper division that they should be in or something like that. I don't care so much about normals, but they shouldn't allow smurf accounts to play through ranked like there is nothing wrong.
