It's a bit unclear what your issue is from what you've written here, but if you're having problems with other toxic players in chat, yes you should definitely mute them before they get on your nerves. When you engage them with negative behavior yourself or they respond negatively even if you are being polite, all it does is keep the problem going or make it worse, so it's best to just ignore them at that point.
Don't try to censor 'ass' with asterices, that is why you have bolded words in your post. Also your all caps post really doesn't help me to feel any sympathy for your chat ban because it actually makes it seem like you are shouting obscenities which really only makes you seem like the type to be toxic, which means you probably deserved the chat ban.
