Nobody Even Talks Anymore

I understand that toxicity is a problem, especially for retaining new players. I recognize that being toxic and flaming in normal games is not okay. However, I think Riot has gone too far.

It used to be that people would talk and have fun with banter in ranked games. Nowadays it feels like literally nobody wants to talk, or if they do everyone sounds the same. Riot's language policing has gone too far, and even more ridiculous are some of their policies in terms of "no second chances".

If someone is intentionally feeding in a RANKED game and their teammates get worked up and say a couple things, who should be banned? According to riot, EVERYONE should be banned. Players that are normally not toxic say a couple of things in a game or two, INSTANT HONOR LEVEL 0.

Players like TheRainMan and even players with very good reputations like Scarra have said that Riot's become too strict with play behavior, and too relaxed in tossing our the ban hammer, and I would agree.

Thoughts?

Its almost as if people want to concentrate and play the game. Ive been playing for years and it seems to me as if nothing has really changed. People still talk, its just to some they are too concentrated in the game. I mean especially in rank people want to win and if their chances of winning is lowered because of the things they say, or other people say makes them tilted why would you want them to talk?

Yeah, I talk a lot because I think social elements are a key and fun part of the multiplayer game experience. I got chat restricted for saying too much once, and now I often end up talking to myself or having someone ask "why are you talking?" or "who are you talking to?" Well IDK, I guess I thought I was talking to anyone who wants to have a social experience, but apparently I'm the only one.

Those streamers just don't understand what crosses the line. I wouldn't use them as a reputable source for behavior.

A lot of things I used to say in chat have been usurped by pings and emotes. They're faster to use and I don't lose focus as much.

Honestly, I rarely have anything to say in game.

I think a lot of people would rather play than chat.

That's what IRC is for, right?
