Toxicity

I feel like i shouldn't even try to ask for humble honestly, but i'll try anyway.

Why are so many players in this game, toxic. It feels like finding any kind of sportsmanship or respect in this game is impossible, and it's like finding a rare gem if you happen to come across someone who is even remotely nice.

I get it that this game is competitive, tilt is real, and mistakes in this game are pretty detrimental given that you know what you're doing, but players can get nasty to where you can get hurt beyond just the game.

"Stfu, -massive ping spam- wtf omg idiot inter feeder gonna afk you suck uninstall retard omg it's like you're a bot ff no team racial slurs -unecessary cursing- -bans hovering champion- stay in whatever low elo / and that's why you're a -elo- " <- all this crap, like humanity doesn't feel like it exists. So many times there's flame. Mistakes aren't allowed, having a bad game isn't allowed, simply battling players who are better than you isn't a reality. Any little mistake is just "BLAME BLAME OMG YOU SUCK FF GG UNINSTALL HAHA WTF GOING AFK NO TEAM NO -insert role- REPORT REPORT" ...like no one is perfect. No one can make the perfect plays all the time. We make mistakes, we get outplayed. There is no encouragement there is no supporting your allies who just had a bad fight or got ambushed. There is no comment on a new plan, how to avoid something from happening again. Never. There's just flame, blame, and eventually a loss because someone got salty about that one mistake that realistically could've been redeemed and decided to give up and just not do anything to try and get back up.

Just why, if all you do is flame someone blame them ping them relentlessly how can you expect them to just magically do better. Do people just think "this player isn't doing very good. i know! maybe if i blame the hell out of them and -enemy missing- ping everything they do that is questionable to me, they'll do better." ... ... ...

It's a team game, why would you cripple yourself by tearing down a player you find bad. Obviously telling them they're bad..is not gonna fucking solve that issue. I assume at this point the train of thought is "just make the bad players uninstall, eventually all the good ones will come out." <- that's just horrible to me, everyone has a right to play this game, and fight to get better.

Most winnable games in my experience are due to just positivism from the team and mending mistakes by working together. Most losing games on the other hand are due to toxicity from players who only know how to flame and give up at the slightest inconvenience

Share your thoughts if you like, and if you're a positive player, thank you.

Totally agree. Another thing I don't get is why people assume the following: 1) Players who don't play like them are necessarily bad I've experienced cases myself where I've been flamed for not joining in their "all 3 on bot" on Twisted Treeline. Is it a crime to NOT want to participate in a particular strategy?

2) Players who don't follow the meta are necessarily trolls There are lots of reasons why people don't follow the meta. One of is could simply be pure ignorance. When you're starting out, you may (or may not) know what the meta is. Even now I don't really understand the concept of meta. Why should I assume anyone who is just starting would know what the meta is?

3) Players who do not follow the meta/ do not play well are automatically bots As before, there are loads of reasons why a player does not follow the meta. A lack of knowledge is, in my opinion, the most common one (but many others may exist). Does it therefore mean that every player who does not is a bot? Or every player who does not play fantastically is automatically a bot?

Besides, is it necessary to speculate if a player IS a bot? It's not like a bot is programmed to respond "Yes, I am a bot. You are absolutely right!" Filling the chat with speculation like that is just reason for me to mute (and hence miss messages that may overall contribute to the effectiveness of the team. In other words, spamming the chat with negativity is more likely to do more harm than good.

4) Players who do not play fantastically automatically want others to carry them Considering I'm not them, I think such unnecessary speculation only creates a very negative environment. I'll decide if that's their intention WHEN I am them. Or when I learn to read minds. Whichever may come first.

5) Senseless arrogance Associated with people who naturally assume all other players are bots. There are players of different skill levels. If you manage to beat someone, you manage to beat someone. Does that have to mean that the other player is a bot?

Having less arrogance and a little more compassion might make the community one that is friendlier.
