Serious Question: Why can't we post links to our games?

I didn't realize this was a thing, because our game history is publicly available, and it is Riot who MAKES it publicly available... so why can't we post links to our games when we talk about them on the forum? All that does is mean that anyone who wants to know has to spend a slight amount of time looking up our match history to see it if they want to, it's not like the information of which players were in the game is hidden or confidential in some way....

Context: I posted a gameplay rant with a recent game as an example, and linked to the game in my match history. Riot deleted the post and sent me a very polite and reasonable notice informing me that it had been deleted and why (because of the included link to the particular game in my match history).

Sorry that I didn't notice this rule before! But I am also really curious if anyone else thinks it makes much sense, and why.

Did the link also include summoner names? That's one of the reasons why they delete a post since it could fall under naming and shaming.

i dont think it makes sense if it's a ranked match and i use riots actual link to the game instead of some other third party thing like op gg or lolking. if someone were to post a non-ranked match or a ranked match and then criticize a player in a hateful manner or to use the game as a way to provoke hate toward that player then yes it should be deleted immediately because thats just rude and childish. however i dont think there are rules against posting a ranked match link and asking for advice and such, but it's really a waste of time asking for advice because there's never enough information for someone just glancing at your match to know for sure if you made the wrong call or what you could have done. all they can do is throw general suggestions at you.

basically it's pointless to post your match history unless you're a famous youtube/twitch streamer because no one cares and it promotes hate either way.

you can link your own games, and ask people to criticise yourself.

what you can';t do, is to link the game and complain about others, as that falls under "naming and shaming" and is against the rules of the boards.

it's ok to pust the match, however you are not allowed to do it if you are calling out your team negatively because that is naming and shaming

what you can do though is screenshot the info, and then just edit out or cross out their names so that they cannot be read at all (do not try to get away with just making a few lines over it to troll but making it so that is can still be read if you really look at it hard enough to make out the letters. just completely color over the entire thing) and that way you can technically still display info like scores or item builds for trolls/feeders but not cal anyone out for a personal attack.

hope this clears it up.

So is it ok to just describe a game and what happened, as an example of a discussion you want to open up, without naming names or linking? [ Basically, I had a game where I was matched with a team MUCH higher rank and experience than I have and they all shitted all over me for being a noob, and blamed everything that went wrong in the game on me. So I made a big post describing it to show how ridiculous it is to be mean to noobs and use the weakest player on your team as a scapegoat when you lose. ]

Because at the end of the day it is pretty easy for people to still look up your match history and figure out what game it was and who the other players were, that is where the rule doesn't make sense to me.

The reason you can't post that information is because you would need 9 other players permission to make that post. Unless you could somehow prove to Riot that you have the other player's permission to make a post with their Summoner names and statistics in it they're going to delete it. It's not always a matter of defaming someone, it's the fact that someone else might not want the game posted in a forum for the world to see.

If you said something seemingly harmless like "the adc fed, but i ganked and was able to get the game back on track", someone might take the time to try to find and harass them over it.

IDK if they only remove them in specific scenarios or just delete on sight, but it at least makes sense in some cases.

My understanding is that those are removed because of the other 9 people in the game. They didn't consent to it and may not want it. That leads to potential abuse cases. Let's say you link it and say 'the jungle fed like crazy and add was terrible'. That's basically naming and shaming people for being bad.
