When it comes to punishing a player for behavior...

Should there really be no leniency, regardless of the situation? Obviously the only actions I can control are my own, but what about real life things that happen that are not in one's control? Losing a relative can be very difficult. Personally, I have lost a lot in the last year. I get to add another loss to the year in losing my account I had since 2012. Because of the escalating penalty system, I have been told there is nothing that can be done for me and my punishment will not be reduced. I just find it hard to believe that even though I spent nearly a thousand dollars on this game, no one seems to care. I'm not saying that the things that happened to me in real life justify my actions in game, but I also don't think its necessarily fair to take away my account. I had no prior issues with behavior other than a single chat restriction 4 years ago, up until about 6 months ago when the beginnings of what has come to be the end of my account accessibility began. I understand that the things I said were not okay, but have tried to make it understood that I was not aware that I could turn off chat in game entirely, and simply want to play the game on my account I started the game with.

I believe that permanently banning accounts is likely a cause for the negativity in game. I've met plenty of summoners who had said they didn't care what happened to this account, they had already had a previous account banned permanently, and didn't care if it happened to another. This leads me to believe that this happens to enough people that they will intentionally go out to provoke others into breaking the summoner's code and get them to also lose access to their account, which in turn could create another player to become like them, and this cycle theoretically could continue until most or all accounts were punished and everyone had been scorned by the system.

Again, I don't think that the things I said were appropriate, and I'm beginning to understand the severity of my actions. However, I can't deny that I feel like the company didn't really give me a fair chance, even though they will argue the escalating punishment system was enough of a fair chance to change my behavior. My final punishment was over a single game of saying some things that were out of line, but it was made out like it was multiple games in every ticket I submitted to the support team. At this point I don't expect to be able to use this account on the client again, but I was genuinely curious if anyone else felt this way or had noticed a similar trend of increased toxicity in the past year of playing league. I have played since 2012 and noticed it was significantly worse this year than any prior, and from conversations with a few summoners I have spoken with in games recently on a new account, I am hearing similar stories to mine.

If nothing else, I think some way to prove that I will responsibly use my account/I have reformed my negative behavior should exist, and by doing this any summoner could "earn" access to their account back. Especially accounts that have a lot of money and time invested in them. Maybe I'm off my rocker and everyone will disagree with me, but thoughts would be appreciated either way.

No leniency? For verbal punishments you typically have to go through 3 other punishment steps before you get perma'd. The exception being the use of Zero tolerance which usually escalates punishments. The system also works based off consistency and severity. I would say there is leniency. Sorry some stuff happened in real life, but how is Riot supposed to know and track that?

Some get banned and come back, but then there are also those who get banned and simply leave. Permanent banning isn't a direct cause for negativity. People wanting to be asshates because of anonymity is.

You had 3 punishments at least before the perm by the sounds of it. The final punishment wasn't because of 1 single game. It was because that 1 game was the final straw that broke the camel's back. A history of negative behavior had been displayed.

They have done at least 2 separate unban experiments. We know the first failed at a 95% rate. They didn't realise the results for the second, but we have had some posts about people getting perma'd again after being unbanned. As a final bit, amount of money invested in an accpunt shouldn't make it more or less valuable than another.

No1 got his account unbanned just by saying i change. Im sad to say but your account is gone. Just make a new one and try not to be toxic. Dont play when you feel bad. Learn self control :) good luck buddy.

I partially agree, I was more getting at the amount invested in the account as a whole. Money, time, and really emotion. That account had so much sentimental value to me. It was my original account, with my terrible MMR and correlated elo from when I sucked when I first started. Yeah I went through other punishments, but in my entire 8 years of playing I've had no issues until the past 6 months.. I don't expect riot to know, that's why I sent in my ticket and let them know I had lost a lot in this past year in real life and was hoping to speak to someone on the phone, which they said they don't do. I'm simply making suggestions because I very much so feel like the reporting system is a large factor in the toxicity of players in game.
