Suspended/Banned for Defending Yourself?

I seriously don't get why you can get banned defending yourself. I understand you may go after someone to try and get them off your back and the auto-ban system picks up your words and sees it as flame, but when a Riot member views it, can tell the player isn't at fault, and still refuses to reverse the suspension /ban, it just makes them seem like they don't care. Not to mention, Blitzcrank Bot seems more like it was created out of laziness rather than with a helpful intent. More often than not, I see players get penalized for saying "f--k off stop flaming you're the one inting" and getting penalized becasue their 1/50/0 team mate keeps blaming them. Just doesn't seem like Riot actually has any concern for the wrongly accused.

there's no such thing as defending yourself in chat.

While I absolutely encourage you to fight back if someone throws a punch at you and it's the best way to deescalate the situation in the safest way for you, **League isn't a fist-fight. **You're not in any danger. All being a jerk back does is mean there are now two jerks, one of which started it and the other of which feels the way to "win" is to be the bigger jerk. You're not in any danger, there's no prize for the biggest jerk, and it just creates a worse environment for everyone in the game.

you want to defend yourself? there's this little function called the mute button

If you got punished for it, you aren't defending yourself, you're just being toxic back to someone who gave you shit. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Mute, report, move on.

As a support main, sometimes my ADC will spam ping or say something demeaning if I miss misstep or don't land a skill shot. I tell them I am muting them and I mute their chat and pings. No need flame back, they will get what they deserve in the end.

You argued with someone, it doesn't matter if you were provoked for 20 minutes 5 games in a row and lost your temper (because you're human); you said a naughty word and you're a horrible person! /s

I sympathize, OP. Not that arguing is ever useful in-game, but there should be leniency when you're provoked (within reason, ofc). But because Riot is committed to policing their game and making it a safespace for kids and fragiles, with so many players automation is the only realistic solution. Context is lost when a bot is handing out punishments, and support won't undo a punishment that is technically correct.

The saddest part about this system is it doesn't really do anything. People just learned to be sarcastic and passive aggressive with their flame while avoiding trigger words. I'd bet most the people punished nowadays are those who are reacting to flame on a bad day, not the ones who are creating the problem in the first place.

Now that you've been bitten, I'd suggest you /mute all and just communicate via pings and only use chat when necessary.

A League match is more than just 'you' and 'person being an asshole to you.' There are 8 other people who don't need to see two people have a keyboard argument.

Defending yourself would be muting. Youre not in any harm sitting at home at your computer. What is there to defend? Your feelings? Riot doesnt care about feelings. They want you to focus on the game, like most of the rest of us. If i get flamed, I mute. I dont contribute to a derailing topic in chat in the middle of a match.

EvilDustMan2/28/2019, 12:14:48 PM1 votes

Because it does nothing to defuse the situation

PH452/28/2019, 2:21:26 PM1 votes

Counterflaming isn't defending yourself. Also why people even feel the need to defend yourself? Just don't give the trolls attention and rep them instead of wasting effort on them in chat.

You don't get banned for muting.

You're really in no position to be complaining when your name is "Ritosuspendme"
