Honor level and punishments

I'd like to give an insight regarding the way this honor system works and I hope those who read this won't view this from a player in Silver but view this from a player who plays League of Legends as a recreational activity. I play League very casually, and every now and then, I get onto ranked solo queue for some action. I've peaked at Honor Level 4 before my crash into Honor levels 1 and 0 and it was during Season 7 before the checkpoints were added. Also, if a Rioter could read this, I'd really appreciate it.

I'll be straightforward, I don't want to sound biased or anything. Toxic players deserve to be punished and there's no running away from it, and I fully understand that an issued punishment is a deserved one since there are chat logs as proof. However, although Riot Games has made the honor climb a tad easier in the last few patches, I still believe that the system is still a bit too harsh on players that are reforming.

The way it seems that the punishments work is that there are different levels depending on what the punishment is. If it's a chat restriction, it starts at 10 games, then 20 games, than a 2 week suspension, and then ultimately, the permanent ban. However, depending on how long you've been without a punishment, the level decreases. If I were to get a 10 game chat restriction now, and not get one until next year, it would remain at 10 games. Sadly, honor level, which is affected by that, doesn't work the same. The first offense lands you in Honor level 1, second one in Honor level 0, locked. And then regardless of where you've been after that, any punishment, even after a long while, will put you back at 0. I, for example, was on Honor level 0 for at least a year if not more, and I was finally at Honor level 1 checkpoing 2 out of 3. And just one punishment of the lowest level (10 game chat restriction) was enough to put me at Honor level 0. Will there be any changes in regards to that? Shouldn't the Honor level changes be equivalent to how long it's been since the last punishment? Just like the level of punishment differs with time. Thank you for reading.

I don't think Riot has plans to change how the Honor levels are calculated.
