I'm a support main and the one thing that bothers me the most when people say," You are the support, and it's just your job to ward." However, it's obviously not just my job or else I'd be the only one allowed to buy the wards and riot would make it that way I'm sure. I just wish somebody would do something about people views towards that subject and towards support mains in general. It makes the game a lot harder to play if no one else is willing to do their part solely because it's something they believe just one role should do. Like I wish Riot would clear up the misconceptions people have about the roles. Like it's not just supports role to ward and team fight, it's not just a junglers job to get objectives (such as dragon or rift herald) and gank and so on. It's called a team game for a reason.

Sightstone needs to be removed from the game, and trinkets made better in exchange. Supports will remain the slave-role as long as sightstone exists.

Three examples from my recent games, each game, mid/top kept getting ganked, JG kept getting his camps stolen. Couple of times during each match, I took the time to ping that they had trinkets available to use, as a reminder, but no matter what you do, some games people just refuse to use wards. It is very frustrating that a free item, that has such an impact on the game, is not used more often.

Vision control should be a team game and they should promote it as such. Even if Riot changes trinket upgrades to give more wards or sweeper+ or pinks people will still disregard them in favor of whatever. Maybe if they turned trinket slots into stupid stat sticks they might get people to ward? "Place X wards & get more ad/hp/ap/armor/mr"?

just mute them since they have no idea what they are talking about. i never get SS first always finish my support item then go SS. early game is nice to have wards but trinkets and pinks are enough better if you can sneak a deep pink into the enemy jungle. its low elo for you just mute them.

But trinkets are so expensive to use... right lol. That feeling when there's 5 wards on the map and the 3 people not using their trinkets complain you have no vision. Or... more likely facecheck into a 2v5, then blame support for not having it warded. Cuz like, your team just pinged danger there and had asked those 2 to ward it 30 sec ago before they based but clearly, irrefutably the support's fault.

I hate when I'm the toplaner and I'm the only one warding anywhere useful for about half the game. Eventually most teammates catch on when i ping lack of vision and danger repeatedly over different areas of the map and then ping that my trinket is on 45 sec cd. Eventually...

Riot gives us free vision and still most people are incapable of using it without their hand being held.

I now type this out every game, "Remember to use your ward trinkets, the vision it gives saves lives. It might just be yours!"

I get "thanks dad", "no shit", "great idea", and a few other interesting replies, but at the end of the game, these people still have single digit ward scores and 2-4 wards placed.

Hi,

Why not just mute all when you join game, and if you are totally against having to ward as a support then skip buying a sightstone? Riot is not forcing you to play a certain way...

Wait aren't you limited to how many wards you can place? So those people who expect you to ward everything are in for disappointment anyways because you literally can't ward everything.

Also I agree, warding is really important, everyone should help with it.

Guess most of you are relatively new to the game. Some years ago the players didnt have a limit on how many wards they could place. These were even more difficult times for supports. It was somewhat like this: Top laner pushes, gets ganked at 4 mins and dies. He would start flaming the support for not warding. Then mid laner pushes, gets ganked at 5 mins and dies. Starts flaming the support for not warding. Jungler gets invaded on the top side and dies. Everyone starts blaming the support for not warding. Most people back then had an idea much like on how they have about junglers nowdays. At this point in the game. Top, Mid and Bot expect the jungler to babysit every single one of them and control objectives. In a similar way, they used to believe that the support (or ward-slave back in those days) had to roam all over the map again and again to ward every single bush and corner that exists, while also helping the ADC. People used to be sooo stupid.

Now they are worst. First because there is a cap of 3 wards and 1 pink ward per player, so 1 player can only ward so much. But the most stupid thing is, as mentioned by others, they have "FREE-ASS-WARDS" they can just use to ward some places on their own. Yet a lot of people dont. Its so stupid...

Btw, Sightstone will be removed on patch 8.2 along with the current quest rewards from support items. Instead, the quest rewards will be the same for every support item and it will be what sightstone used to do, stock wards, refill them when you base etc. They do so to remove the burden of sightstone from supports.

For those people I use a response I stole from a friend "haven't you heard? Riot just released a patch that says everyone can ward now!"

Really though these block heads still don't get the message if you ping your ward cooldown/inventory every time they demand you ward more. They don't care that they've had 2 in their inventory all game it would ruin them to press the 4 key.
