Why does Riot believe in "hate speech"?

All hate speech is are a set of words that are arbitrarily restricted. They don't hurt anyone, or do anything. yet some people choose to be offended by them and Riot actually buys into this bull shit.

I generally find that people who make statements like this have an underdeveloped sense of sympathy, an excess of unearned and unexamined privilege, or some combination of the two.

by that definition you should be asking why governments believe in English as a language. All words are are words that don’t do anything, so why do they even bother writing laws with words because they have no meaning and don’t ever do anything.

Considering hate speech has both a legal and dictionary definition, I don't really understand how anyone can be ignorant enough to believe it doesn't exist. You can argue how harmful the effects of hate speech are if you'd like, but to pretend it doesn't exist is just wrong.

How can you decide what does and does not hurt someone who is not yourself ?

So would you like to be reminded several times that your family used to be considered slaves (and worse) by the peoplr in your game?

tl;dr - The game isn't catered around you. It's the majority vs the minority.

If you don't like it you're free to leave.

Who hurt you?

Many of OP's comments in this thread are the result of wishful thinking (and other self-deceptive patterns of thought) combined with casuistic arguments made by others elsewhere (which OP might not have fallen under the spell of, were it not for the self-deception which almost every human is capable of). Blame the whole heritage of such arguments.

Because people believe in hate speech and get super offended and when theyre beingsubjected to it on league, they quit league. So Rito, being a business operating under capitalism, makes rules against it to deter it from happening. Its all driven by money, for good reason. They need maximum profit, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Why else does the IFS exist?
