The screenshot(s) provided are toxicity from the same person being taken out on two different people, whose identities I've all censored out. The idea before this topic came from a toxic player following others outside of the end game lobby. Naturally, one wouldn't want to add the toxic player that's just given them a hard time. So instead, toxic player A asks toxic player B to add friends X and Y, and proceed to down-talk them in his place despite B never having previously interacted with these normal players. Toxic player B just added these two, harassed them, and left. I don't, however, think Toxic Player B is worth reporting simply because he was under the influence of his friend who just got out of a game of going completely silent and then flaming everybody at once. Was it bad to do? Yes. Though, I don't think Toxic Player B would've ever been so needlessly mean without Toxic Player A telling him what to do. Toxic Player A was a bad influence in and after the game

#How Should Toxic Players Like This Be Handled?

It's disappointing that the toxic players in question could harass others and get away with it, and so could others just as easily. The best thing you and anyone else could do, in my opinion, is to kill them with kindness :) Don't stoop to their level! They'll give up eventually, just don't give them past a one word response if you possibly can. Send in a Riot Support ticket and hope for the best

#Why Use a Report System Over Blocking?

Because if someone really goes out of their way so much like this to harass a player, odds are, they're no better towards team mates and other players in a team oriented game. The last thing I want is one tilted and toxic person playing a marathon and ruining other peoples' games while I can't do anything but send in a ticket.

#What Might Be a Healthier Alternative to Reporting Out of Games?

A healthier alternative to reporting players and creating a more hostile environment might be as simple as a personal player rating system. Pros:

  • It brings about more incentive to be a better team player
  • Player ratings would leave toxic players to reflect on their behavior if they're stuck with people just as bad as them all the time
  • Potential replacement for the honor system. Temporary banners for players who maintain high ratings from enemies and allies for a month+ would feel more rewarding than having 500 honors of both in a year and nothing to show for it

Cons:

  • What if my friends have a lower/higher rating than me?
  • Players with lower average ratings would be more inclined to quit rather than improve
  • Players who are queued together would have to give lower rating values, whether the other player was particularly good or bad, to avoid players banding against another

#Conclusion

Toxic players exist outside of the end game lobby- this is a known fact. There should be a more efficient way to deal with them that isn't as frustrating as waiting for riot support to step in, which may or may not lead to the desired outcome. What are your thoughts?

  1. You can already submit complaints in support tickets and Riot will look into the matter (make sure to send screenshots)
  2. Albeit a cood idea, everyone's first reaction will be "But couldn't people troll and give everyone bad ratings, and couldn't a group of toxic players all give each other good ratings"

THe personal player rating this is basically the Honor system. It seems like a great idea, buuuuut then it just falls on the wayside because people forget bout it

i'd probably permaban a player like that for being so petty that he has to add someone post game to talk shit.
