Why not HWID ban repeat offenders?

We all know how easy it is to bypass an IP ban and the reasons why Riot doesn't issue them (game lounges, college dorms)... But why not issue HWID bans to people with 10+ account bans?

I'm curious about this because I've seen LOADS of games ban players by their HWID and in most cases it's difficult or downright impossible to reverse if done correctly. That means they'll never be able to create another account for that game on that hard drive. Ever again.

To bypass this, they would have to either purchase a spoofer (which can get very expensive) or buy a new hard drive (also expensive).

I'm asking this mainly because I have a friend who has over 1000 cracked accounts on League and is an avid scripter. He still plays the game every day, and whenever he gets banned, he just swaps to a different account. He's ruining 8+ games a day for 9 other people doing this. (He's still my friend because at the end of the day, League is just a game.)

I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: The collateral damage is worth it in these cases IMO.

If your story is true, your friend is a fucking scumbag, an extreme outlier as far as repeat offenders, and he's wasting his life trolling video games. Sad as fuck.

I think permabanning the account is more than fair.

Maybe permabanning the account AND HWID ban?

Do you like that thought?

Get your friend some help. I couldn't imagine what a sum bag he is IRL if he doing that shit on a daily basis. You can say it's just a game but normal people dont casually be assholes to countless people online.

i agree, but it seems like everybody else on this forum so worried about the .0001% of players at a computer cafe.. I've never even seen a computer cafe in my city. (san diego) seems like a weak excuse. a ban on a HD? that seems like it would solve the "college dorm" issue. Interesting how this forum is so against multi acct bans...

sorry if i butched english somehow

I couldn't agree more with your statement. And for those who care about the .0000001% that play in net cafes plz pay attention.

In my view the system shoud work like this:

1º Hardware ban shoud be compliemented with account ban.(mix the 2 for better results)

2º As we all know its really hard to get a perma ban on this game, you got to be a real _____ to that happen. So if you somehow managed to accomplish that deed your hardware get flagged for an hardware ban.

**If another perma ban happen in that hardware only then you get an hardware ban.**

3º For the people who really care about net cafe business or any kind of bussiness here's your solution: make the hardware ban reversible by payment. When you get an hardware ban the game API shoud send a warning and a special code to contact the company support, the response shoud be an email with all relevant info: list of games that lead to ban + day and hour + hardware code...

I never used a net cafe before but i belive they store all data about who uses their pc's, so with the support mail shoud be easy to identify the responsible.

I also belive if you broke something in a net cafe you will be forced to pay it by law so the same will be applied here if you lock a machine you will be forced to pay the unlock.

4º Unlock Price? Well you decide that but in my view shoudn't be less than 50$

5º Family PC's shoudn't be a company concern, that a thing you shoud solve yourself.

you are free to adjust anything when everyone is happy with the output upvote this topic to the devs, lets make LoL great again
