PSA: They are "SCRIPTERS", not "HACKERS"
#A HACKER... ...in the sense of computer security, is a person who is well versed in the inner workings of operating systems, network applications and coding, using that knowledge and a variety of methods to find a remote (or local) system, detect weakpoints (such as badly patched software offering vulnerabilities) and exploiting them to gain access to said system.
Other things that a hacker does, is manipulating network traffic to facilitate things like man-in-the-middle attacks, create malware that infects remote systems automatically (to gather data, cause damage or create botnets), inspect commonly used software to detect useable vulnerabilities and steal/crack hashtables of stored passwords to gain access to user accounts, and write software to automatically use exploits.
Hackers also devise methods (and write software implementing them), to make applications perform actions they were not designed to do. Among other things they write software that is used by...
#A SCRIPTER... ...is someone using a premade (by someone else) piece of software that reads input from another application, and automatically generates input (which normally the player would have to generate himself by using mouse/keyboard) to the game/software used. Such software can oftentimes also generate input to the game/software itself, for example to force a graphic engine to generate markings (such as range indicators).
TL;DR: A Scripter is not a Hacker, same as a Player is not a Game Designer.
He USES something a hacker made, but that doesn't make him a hacker, same as driving an automobile doesn't make someone an engineer.
So I ask you to stop giving these kids laurels they do not deserve. I am not splitting hairs here, taking away the nimbus of being "hackers" would go a small step along the way to make scripting less appealing to these people.
