To all the people saying that being toxic should not be bannable/punishable.

So, i see alot of posts here complaining about "unjustified bans" and "leagues punishments being too strict" and you know what? How about you have a taste of what its like, playing in a game with 9 people just as toxic as you, its really simple, download dota 2, get reported a bunch(With your attitudes it wont take long) and since dota doesnt ban you, you get send to low priority instead, consider being toxic a bit more so that you get prolonged low priority and get matched with more toxic players , then come back and tell me how much "fun" it was.

Ok so reverse the situation...

I'm 0/15, ruining the game for my teammates and wasting everybodies time. Someone calls me "bad", which is what I would do.

Well as its me, I'd acknowledge that and say, yeah I'm 0/15 that is pretty bad.

But instead if I were to react like the majority of this community and how people on this board would want me to... - Wow that is so toxic you deserve to be permabanned we all have bad games!

That would be the taste of "toxicity". Man, that sure sounds terrible haha.

To be fair, to get banned requires some serious consistency in flaming. Everybody loses their shit sometimes. No one will ban you over one game or two a month where you blow up and tell a teammate "u suck u damn feeder go fuk urself". But if you do it every second damn game, and with a zeal and hatred that puts most cursaders to shame, well you deserve every striek of the banhammer you get.

IMO the punishments for raging etc are not harsh enough, I often encounter people that will consistently insult the player with the worst KDA and often if challenged will use the low score as justification for the abuse. To add insult to injury they will often ask everyone else to report the player in question.

Morality Coach11/6/2016, 7:49:58 PM3 votes

The game was better when you could speak your mind and afk.

People got along better cause if you were toxic half the team would just afk.

All of the attempts to clean the game up made it more toxic. 2000 plus chat restricts anyone? Remember how toxic that was?

Cryo0011/6/2016, 10:27:48 PM2 votes

Instead of bans, I think league would benefit from low prio. This way the toxic people only play with toxic people.

HazyCloud711/6/2016, 9:24:58 PM2 votes

I generally find that the people that hold this opinion tend to be toxic themselves. I've only seen the "a player you have reported has been punished" twice despite coming across a handful of REALLY toxic people over the past year, so I'd also say it's pretty difficult to actually get banned for toxicity. I have a friend that constantly BMs in all chat and says gg ez after a win and he hasn't gotten so much as a chat restriction.

I also think people tend to be really sensitive in terms of what they actually consider toxic.

I'm missing the point where this does anything? If 9 other people in the game are toxic, I can just mute them. Plus, some people like me know how to just ignore toxicity. You can say whatever you want, it won't bother me or affect my gameplay. So how does this actually solve anything?

The "fun" I have in league has nothing to do with interactions with other players, so whether everyone is toxic or nice, I could care less. All I care about is your ability to play the game. You could be the most toxic person in the world, if you are good at the game, I won't complain.

My habit is to mute everyone in the game because I don't need to speak to them to enjoy the game and most of the time, nothing they say benefits me in any way; therefore, all I'm left with is how they perform in the game. If you're bad, you're bad. If you're good, you're good. I could care less about your personality.

But I'm in the minority, so send me your downvotes.

So alot of people are missing my point, so... I just gave you a simple offer, to look at what league would be if toxicity was not punishable. But lets be honest here, most actually toxic players would be reduced to a raging/sobbing mess if they were the victim and couldnt do anything about it.

Honestly, if someone is being "toxic" to you, then there's a mute button for a reason. Oh download Dota 2 and play in a low priority queue instead, how about playing some cs go where people are not only "toxic" but also spam it as well. In CSGO you can report someone for inting(griefing), and hacking (wall, aim, or both) but no button for "toxicity". Honestly, PC culture is so strong in this community it's kind of cringy, in CSGO people spam binds and nobody cares, while in league my friend gets reported for one "Get Rekt" in all chat.

Seriously though, this sort of PC culture is not only in the real league community, but also around the pro scene as well where, i think, it was the match between C9 and SSG where the crowd boo'd SSG when they were introduced and got a backlash from all those European players that like to stereotype NA. If we can't even boo against the teams we dislike i worry for the community of league in the future, how far will this "toxicity" thing be taken.

Besides, what's considered "toxic" in this community anyways? Is it the person that's telling someone on their team or the other that they're noobs, or is it the person chatting things like KYS or %%%got. If you're the type of person who gets offended by some random person over the internet offending them, they do need to get a thicker skin because life isn't like this community, people irl might call you things worse and then you actually have to do something about it besides say "Im going to report you for toxicity".

Troll Slaiyer11/7/2016, 2:03:18 AM1 votes

depends on how toxic

i played dota

not counting that a fake friend request looking very similar to a real one stole all my dota items when i already quit dota, so not counting the security reasons i had no problems with toxicity there. i sometimes played in the low priority too

RealPalyer11/7/2016, 6:07:30 AM1 votes

I've removed chat entirely from league of legends using chatscale=-100 in my cfg files. When i told my friends they did the same thing to my surprise and usually they don't talk in chat.

Ive been perma banned once. Lost my plat 3 ranking all my skins and the money i've spent. I respond to toxic players in chat with hostility. Play this game for 4 years and tell me hearing the same bull shit doesn't trigger you eventually. I decided the community wasin't worth the insults so i removed chat enitrely. Something riot should add an option for.

SleepySlayer11/7/2016, 9:10:11 AM1 votes

Valve treats their customers a lot better than Riot does when it comes to account matters, they also understand that COMPETITIVE online games get pretty heated between players. Riot wants their game to be a positive echo chamber when in reality it will never happen. Weak people should stick to single player games if words hurt them so much.

ARequestOfDeath11/6/2016, 10:27:16 PM1 votes

I believe there should be a mode that lasts 1 day, it happens once a year. REMOVE REPORTABILITY FOR THAT ONE DAY IN THAT MODE.

Idea is based off of the purge.

WhatIsYoName11/6/2016, 5:37:16 PM1 votes

I don't think it is to harsh of a punishment. For the people that did get banned. We were banned for a reason. It is our priority to realize what we have done to get this consequence. I have learned just recently. ( Yes I am absolutely disgusted at myself on how toxic i was these 2 matches. )
