Punishment System

The punishment system in this game is extremely broken, and does not advocate for proper behavior within games. I've had a toxic teammate in 99% of my games and yet nothing changes, I queue up, get put with another toxic teammate each and every game. Not only that but there are players that feel the need to be toxic towards the other team too, with mocking, harassing, talking down to individuals, saying "ez" after a win. Riot has absolutely lost control of players behavior in game, and the system in place currently is not cutting it. A player can mock, harass, and be negative towards players, but the instant the victim of the insults stands up for themselves Riot punishes the victim rather than punishing the aggressor. I've been called every name under the sun, had people intentionally feed, steal jungle camps to troll, quit, give up, and spam surrender in nearly every game I've played, yet that will happen again and again in every single game I queue up for a new match-made game.

When riot does consider reports the chat logs are taken out of context, and given no sincere consideration for the circumstances. Chat logs that may not even be toxic or negative can be subjected to "negative behavior" even though player intentions are never taken into account. Subjecting a player to a "toxic" label as opposed to being an objective 3rd party is not improving the community. Riot loses sight of the people that keep them in business, their players. Are players valued and treated with respect by this system? Not at all. This company has some serious soul searching to do and should reevaluate how it handles in game toxicity.

Riot, the first step is admitting you have a problem.

The key is, speak nicely, and report those who don't. Apparently there are millions of players so there is a statistically comparable number of Toxic players.

Personally only 1 out of 5 of my games I encounter real toxicity. I do play a great deal, but don't encounter as much and when I do I don't engage with it. I mute it if I must, especially if it's towards me and I continue to play.

Also, I come to this board all the time. I see players penalized every single hour. Context doesn't matter. Nor should it. Because there's no need for other players with ill-intent finding loopholes.

Riot is finding more ways to handle toxicity by each step, and the newest one is with the honor system. The majority of the community plays Ranked. With the honor system taking steps impacting Ranked, players will realize the consequences of their actions more often. This newly implemented system is rather a big step and impacting toxic/ignorant players greatly. So I can only see Riot doing more with this new system as we go on.

Soon, it'll either speak maturely or don't speak at all.

Look at the percentage that gets punished. If I remember for chat restriction, it's 5% while 0.006% for ban.

I see toxicity 1 in 4-6games and I wonder if that 5% is bugged or not. Really weird that I get assured that by Riot that they are doing their job well.

Let me ask it this way. Why has Riot not given players the option to turn off player chat completely. Why do I have to type "/mute all" when I enter a game? Doesn't a box you can check and uncheck in the User Interface options menu make more sense for players that want nothing to do with the toxicity of the in-game chat. Give players the ability to opt in and opt out of in-game chat before the game even starts.

I'm sure higher ranked players do not experience the same levels of toxicity as in lower ones, or players that are just getting into the game. Being forced to level to 30 while dealing with toxic behavior, harassment, and more experienced players talking down to others about their level or the way they're playing is brutal. I've been 1/2/0 in lane and my whole team has deemed me a feeder and begged everyone in game to report me for feeding on many occasions. As a new player to the game, it is extremely frustrating to be subject to that judgement/treatment. The recommended solution is just bend over backwards and take it up the backside, as opposed to saying anything to stand up for yourself.

The toxicity is in more than 20% of games, you just may not always realize it as a player depending on rankings, and your attention to the chat. Remember that 1/2 the in-game chat is the other team's and you can't see that while playing. There is no logical way to justify that the 5% chat restriction, and .006% numbers are an accurate estimate of toxicity in this game.

It was also said that context does not matter, but in reality it does. Those who pass judgement without context are passing judgement with a significant level ignorance over the situation. I understand the zero-tolerance and making it impossible to find loop holes, but how is playing judge, jury, and executioner, while taking words out of context, and subjecting players to "toxic" labels, fair to players. As I mentioned before you could be honored in 1000 straight games, but 1 game is all it takes to have all that honor stripped from your account. Seems unfair to me.

I find it funny that this was actually down voted by people, even though it seems like the majority of respondents actually agree with me.
